INSIDE THE SERIES

The Monarchs and Thunder boast two of the hottest goalies kicking in the playoffs in Sam Brittain and J.P. Anderson respectively. Brittain is tied for third in the playoffs with a 1.82 GAA and his 0.938 save percentage is good for fourth. Anderson sits tied with Brittain with a 1.82 GAA while his 0.924 save percentage is good for seventh in post-season play. The only playoff goaltenders with better combined numbers are Mark Dekanich (1.62 GAA, 0.954 save percentage) and Zachary Fucale (1.20 GAA, 0.959 save percentage) who just finished the other North Division Semifinals matchup.

MAKING THEM COUNT

In the first five games of the series, the Monarchs have mustered only 29 shots on goal, an average of 5.8 shots per game. During the regular season, the Monarchs put 738 shots on goal in the opening period for an average of 10.25 shots per game. Despite the lower shot total in the playoffs, the Monarchs shooting percentage has jumped from 9.34% in the regular season to 13.8% in the post-season.

TOUGH TO COME BY

The Monarchs (3.67) and Thunder (3.69) were two of the top seven teams during the regular season in goals per game, but have found it difficult to fill the net through the first five games of the series. Entering Game 6, the Monarchs are 11th in the post-season with 2.20 goals per game, while the Thunder are 15th in the league at 1.80 goals per game.

BEASTS OF BURDEN

The Brampton Beast are sitting and waiting to find out their opponent for the North Division Finals, as the team from Ontario beat the Reading Royals last night to clinch the series, 4-2. The Beast finished the regular season third in the North with 88 points.
