INSIDE THE SERIES

Heading into Game 4, the Monarchs hold a 2-1 series lead over the Thunder in the best-of-seven North Division Semifinals. After the Monarchs defeated the Thunder in the first two games at SNHU Arena, the series shifted to the Glens Falls Civic Center. Tuesday night, the Thunder pulled back to within one game with a 3-1 victory. Adirondack shut down the Monarchs offense in Game 3, allowing a lone power-play goal with 23 seconds left in the third period, while killing seven additional penalties on their way to victory. The Monarchs will look to regain their two-game advantage in the series Thursday night in Glens Falls. 

TIME IN THE SIN BIN

The Monarchs and Thunder have not played nicely in the first three games of the series. The North Division rivals have combined for 97 penalty minutes through 180 game minutes, with Game 3 featuring a season high for the Monarchs with 15 total penalties. Entering tonight, Manchester ranks 5^th in the playoffs, averaging 17.67 penalty minutes per game, while the Thunder rank 8^th (14.67). During the regular season, Manchester ranked 24^th in the league and averaged 11.88 penalty minutes per game, while the Thunder ranked 19^th with 12.60.

SLOW STARTS

In each of the three games thus far, Manchester has been held to four shots on goal in the first period, and have been outshot, 36-12, by the Thunder in the series. During the regular season, Adirondack ranked second in the league allowing an average of 9.07 shots per game in the opening period, trailing only the South Carolina Stingrays who allowed 9.06. To this point in the series, the Monarchs first period shots have plummeted from their 10.25 season average.

BUILDING A WALL

Adirondack defenseman, Alex Wall, has scored three goals in the past two games and currently leads all defenseman in playoff goals. The offensive burst from Wall is surprising, as entered the 2017 Kelly Cup Playoffs with six goals in 69 career games, including the playoffs.
