Kings And Jones Agree To Two-Year Contract

LOS ANGELES, CA – The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have agreed to terms on a new two-year contract with goaltender Martin Jones, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

Jones, 23, appeared in 56 games for the Monarchs last season, recording a 27-25-4 record with a 2.53 goals-against average, .919 save percentage and five shutouts.  He ranked fourth in the American Hockey League in wins, tied for sixth in shutouts, second in minutes and second in saves.

The 6-foot-4, 189-pound native of North Vancouver, British Columbia has played the last three season with Manchester, accumulating a 68-54-7 record in 136 appearances.  Before turning pro Jones played four years of junior hockey with the Western Hockey League’s Calgary Hitmen.

Jones was originally signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on Oct. 2, 2008.
