WILD OUTLAST WOLVES 2-1Iowa Returns Home on Sunday at 5 P.M.CHICAGO, IL – The Iowa Wild (6-22-2-3, 17 points) defeated the Chicago Wolves (14-11-1-2, 31 points) 2-1 in front of 6,720 fans at Allstate Arena on Saturday night. Wild goalie Jeremy Smith (2-10-2) made 26 saves on 27 shots in the victory. Iowa forward Grayson Downing scored his eighth goal of the season, helping the Wild defeat the Wolves for the first time of the season. Defenseman Joe Finley added a goal for the Wild. Wolves goalie Pheonix Copley (8-7-1) made 25 saves on 27 shots in the loss. Wolves forward Evan Trupp scored the lone goal for Chicago. The Wild returns home on Sunday night for a 5 p.m. game against the Rockford IceHogs. Defenseman Joe Finley opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal at 10:24 of the first period, giving the Wild a 1-0 lead. The puck trickled to Finley at the left point after an offensive-zone faceoff. The defenseman one-timed the puck towards the net, beating goalie Pheonix Copley on the short side for his second goal of the season. Forward Grayson Downing gave the Wild a 2-0 lead, scoring at 10:59 of the second period. Forward Jordan Schroeder and defenseman Mike Reilly each tallied an assist on the goal. Schroeder carried the puck into the offensive zone down the left boards, dropping a pass for Reilly. Reilly slid the puck to the slot as Downing joined the rush, making it a 3-on-2 advantage for Iowa. Downing one-timed the puck past Copley and into the back of the net for his eighth goal of the season. Wolves forward Evan Trupp made it a 2-1 game, scoring at 9:48 of the third period. Defensemen Chris Butler and Jordan Schmaltz each picked up an assist on the power-play goal. Butler fed the puck to Trupp at the top of the left circle from inside the blue line. Trupp carried the puck towards the slot and wristed a shot over the glove of Smith for his second goal of the season. Iowa returns home for a game against the Rockford IceHogs on Sunday, Dec. 27 at 3 p.m. The Subway and Star 102.5 Combo pack is available for purchase for Sunday’s game. The Wild make stops in Manitoba for games on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 and in Milwaukee on Jan. 9 before returning home on Sunday, Jan. 10 for a game against the Rockford IceHogs. Fans may purchase single-game tickets multiple ways, either through the team's website – www.Iowawild.com, the Wells Fargo Arena box office or participating Hy-Vee food stores. The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. For Saturday game days, the box office will open at 10 a.m. For Sunday game days the box office will open at 12 p.m. Fans may also purchase tickets by calling 1-844-55-HYVEE or by visiting participating Hy-Vee food stores locations in the greater Des Moines area. Those interested may also visit www.hy-veetix.com. Fans interested in buying full season, or smaller season packages may call the Iowa Wild front office at 515-564-8700. The Iowa Wild 2015-16 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play its 2015-16 season at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
