MONSTERS BITE WILD 3-2Iowa Hosts Lake Erie Rematch Saturday at 12:30 P.M.DES MOINES, IA – The Iowa Wild (3-12-1-2) were defeated by the Lake Erie Monsters (9-3-0-2) 3-2 in front of 3,889 fans Friday night at Wells Fargo Arena. Monsters defensemen led the charge, scoring all three Lake Erie goals in the win. Defenseman Jamie Sifers scored twice, including the game winner at 9:56 of the third. Lake Erie goalie Joonas Korpisalo (4-1-2) made 31 saves on 33 shots for his third win of the season. Defenseman Justin Falk also scored the Monsters, who picked up their third straight win. Iowa goalie Leland Irving (2-5-2) made 33 saves on 36 shots in the loss. The Wild received goals from forwards Grayson Downing and Michael Keranen in a losing effort, extending the team’s winless skid to eight straight (0-7-0-1) - tying the franchise record. Iowa and Lake Erie rematch Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. Lake Erie defenseman Jamie Sifers opened the scoring at 1:18 of the second period for a 1-0 lead. Forwards Nick Moultrey and T.J. Tynan each earned an assist on the play. Sifers entered the zone and rifled a wrist shot from above the left circle, beating Irving over the glove for his first goal of the season. Iowa forward Grayson Downing tied the game 1-1 at 12:38 of the second period. Defenseman Mike Reilly and Maxime Fortunus each tallied an assist on the goal. Downing followed his shot to the net, picking up his own rebound. Wheeling around the net after picking up the puck, Downing stuffed in a wrap around for his third goal of the season. Wild forward Michael Keranen scored 50 seconds into the third period, giving the Wild a 2-1 lead. Reilly and Downing each picked up an assist on the goal. Reilly sprang Keranen with a breakaway pass behind the Lake Erie defense. Uncontested, Keranen faked a wrist shot, bringing Korpisalo to the ice. The Wild forward slid the puck behind Korpisalo for his fifth goal of the season. Monsters defenseman Justin Falk tied the game 2-2 at 5:20 of the third period. Defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk and Tynan each earned an assist on the goal. Tynan took a drop-pass from Bodnarchuk and fed Falk with a cross-ice pass to the left point. Falk wristed a shot on net, beating Irving low on the glove side for his second goal of the season. Sifers scored at 9:56 of the period, giving Lake Erie a 3-2 lead. Left wing Markus Hannikainen picked up an assist on the play. Hannikainen carried the puck up the left boards, finding Sifers at the point. Sifers one-timed a slap shot over the blocker of Irving for his second goal of the game and season. Iowa hosts Lake Erie again tomorrow afternoon at 12 p.m. Tomorrow’s game is “Youth Sports” day sponsored by NASH FM. The first 1,500 fans (12 and under) receive an Iowa Wild Red Youth Jersey courtesy of LeafGuard and NASH FM. The “Legends Brewdog Pack” is also available Saturday night. The “Subway Combo Pack” is available for purchase starting at $12, including one ticket, one hot dog, one soda, and one Subway coupon. The Wild begins a six-game road trip on Sunday, making stops in Chicago, Grand Rapids, Charlotte, and Lake Erie before returning home on Tuesday, Dec. 8 for a game against the Chicago Wolves. Kids (12 and under) eat free on Tuesday with a “Crash’s Kids Meal” courtesy of 96.5 Country of iHeartMedia Des Moines. The meal includes one hot dog, one soda, one popcorn, one fruit snack, and one Iowa Wild prize. It’s also a Taco Tuesday, where each fan receives a coupon for a free taco from Taco John’s upon entering the arena. Fans may purchase single-game tickets multiple ways, either through the team's website – www.Iowawild.com, the Wells Fargo Arena box office or participating Hy-Vee food stores. Tickets are available online at www.Iowawild.com under the single game tickets tab. The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. For Saturday game days, the box office will open at 10 a.m. For Sunday game days the box office will open at 12 p.m. Fans may also purchase tickets by calling 1-844-55-HYVEE or by visiting participating Hy-Vee food stores locations in the greater Des Moines area. The Iowa Wild 2015-16 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena.
