MONSTERS SNEAK PAST WILD 3-2Iowa Heads to Grand Rapids Wednesday, Back Home Nov. 13 and 14 DES MOINES, IA – The Iowa Wild (3-8-1-2, 9 points) were defeated by the Lake Erie Monsters (6-2-0-2, 14 points) 3-2 in front of 4,004 fans at Wells Fargo Arena on Sunday afternoon. The Monsters used three unanswered goals from defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk, forward Trent Vogelhuber, and forward Josh Anderson to come from behind and pick up the road win. Lake Erie goalie Anton Forsberg (4-2-0-0) stopped 14 of 16 shots for his fourth victory of the season. Iowa goalie Jeremy Smith (1-6-1-0) made 17 saves on 20 shots in the loss. The Wild received goals from defenseman Zach Palmquist and forward Kellan Lain. Iowa travels to Grand Rapids on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. game with the Griffins. Wild defenseman Zach Palmquist opened the scoring 1:39 into the game. Forwards Grayson Downing and Jared Knight each earned an assist on the play. In a flurry of shots on goal, Downing fired the puck off of Forsberg’s leg pad. Palmquist backhanded the rebound past Forsberg. His second goal of the season gave Iowa a 1-0 lead. Iowa forward Kellan Lain scored his second goal in two games at 5:00 of the first period. Winning a race to the puck inside the blue line, Lain found himself on a short breakaway. Attacking the net on his backhand he slid the puck under Forsberg for a 2-0 lead. Lake Erie defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk scored at 18:47 of the first period. The defenseman led a rush up ice, carrying the puck into the zone on the left side. Bodnarchuk fired a wrist shot towards the net, deflecting the puck off Smith’s stick and into the net for his second goal of the season. Monsters forward Trent Vogelhuber tied the game 7:13 into the second period. Bodnarchuk picked up the assist on the play for his second point of the game. Bodnarchuk corralled the puck off the left boards and fired a shot towards the net. Vogelhuber tipped the shot, elevating the puck over Smith’s glove for a 2-2 tie. The goal marks Vogelhuber’s second on the year. Lake Erie forward Josh Anderson scored shorthanded at 17:07 of the second period. A misplayed puck behind the net caught Smith out of position. Vogelhuber picked up the puck and found Anderson wide open in front of the net. The forward one-timed the puck into the open net for his first goal of the season and a 3-2 Monsters lead. The Wild travels to Grand Rapids on Wednesday, Nov. 11 for a 6 p.m. (CT) game. Iowa returns home for a pair of games with the Rockford IceHogs on Friday, Nov. 13 and Saturday, Nov. 14. The Wild is wearing specialty jerseys for “Veteran Appreciation” weekend. Friday’s game features the “Bring Your Buds” ticket package, including one ticket, one 16 oz. Bud or Bud Light at the Wild game, one hot dog, one popcorn, $1 discount for 25 oz. cans of Bud or Bud Light during the game, and one free Bud or Bud Light at Carl’s Place. Friday is also a $2 beer night sponsored by 100.3 The Bus. The Wild and IceHogs rematch the following day at 7 p.m. Veterans Appreciation Weekend continues on Saturday with ALS night. The team is hosting a live jersey auction benefitting ALS Association of Iowa Chapter following the game. The first 1,500 fans to the game receive an Iowa Wild “Stars and Stripes” hat courtesy of Vatterott College and ALT 106.3. The “Legends Brewdog Pack” is also be available, including one ticket, beer, hot dog, and one free Bud or Bud Light at Legends American Grill. Fans may purchase single-game tickets multiple ways, either through the team's website – www.Iowawild.com, the Wells Fargo Arena box office or participating Hy-Vee food stores. The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. For Saturday game days, the box office will open at 10 a.m. For Sunday game days the box office will open at 12 p.m. Fans may also purchase tickets by calling 1-844-55-HYVEE or by visiting participating Hy-Vee food stores locations in the greater Des Moines area. The Iowa Wild 2015-16 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April.
