IOWA SHUTOUT BY MANITOBA 3-0 IN PRESEASON GAMESame Two Teams Meet on Saturday in Fargo Grand Forks, ND – The Iowa Wild were defeated by the Manitoba Moose 3-0 in a preseason game at Ralph Engelstad Arena on Friday night. Moose goalie Eric Comrie collected a 27-save shutout to preserve the win. Manitoba forwards Scott Kosmachuk, Axel Blomqvist and Brock Trotter each scored in the win. Rookie center Chris De Leo led all scorers with two assists. Iowa goalie Steven Michalek suffered the loss, stopping nine of 10 shots in 29:13 of work. Fellow rookie goalie Brody Hoffman finished the game, stopping eight of 10 shots in 30:47 of work. The same two teams meet again at Scheels Arena on Saturday at 7 p.m. Manitoba’s Scott Kosmachuk opened the scoring with his first goal of the preseason and a 1-0 Moose lead. Defenseman Aaron Harstad fired a stretch pass to center ice, hitting Chris De Leo on the right wing. De Leo carried the puck into the Iowa zone and dropped off a pass for Kosmachuk, who put the puck past Iowa goalie Steven Michalek 21 seconds into the middle frame. Michalek was replaced halfway through the period by Brody Hoffman. The Moose connected for an early third-period goal with Axel Blomqvist scoring 2:19 into the third. Forward Ben Walker and defenseman Jan Kostalek set up the play, springing Blomqvist through center and between two Wild defenders. Blomqvist beat goalie Brody Hoffman on the stick side for his first goal of the preseason. The Moose made it 3-0 at 7:07 of the third period with a power-play goal by Brock Trotter. De Leo set up the back-door feed to Trotter with the second assist going to defenseman Julian Melchiori. The Iowa Wild plays one more preseason game against the Manitoba Moose. The teams will play at Scheels Arena in Fargo, ND at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Iowa hosts Opening Night on Saturday, October 10th when the Charlotte Checkers come to town. The puck drops at 7 p.m. The Wild hosts a pregame tailgate party outside of Wells Fargo Arena from 4-6:30 p.m., celebrating the team’s third season in Des Moines. The first 5,000 fans to the game receive an Iowa Wild Cling Schedule, presented by Hicklin Garage, KXNO 1460, and The Bus 100.3. The Wild also hosts Charlotte again on Sunday at 5 p.m. Sunday’s game is Kid’s Opening Night and the first 2,500 fans to the game receive an Iowa Wild poster schedule. Iowa begins its third season in the AHL this fall. The team will host Opening Night on Saturday, Oct. 10. Fans may purchase single-game tickets multiple ways, either through the team's website – www.Iowawild.com, the Wells Fargo Arena box office or participating Hy-Vee food stores. Tickets are available online at www.Iowawild.com under the single game tickets tab. The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. For Saturday game days, the box office will open at 10 a.m. For Sunday game days the box office will open at 12 p.m. Fans may also purchase tickets by calling 1-844-55-HYVEE or by visiting participating Hy-Vee food stores locations in the greater Des Moines area. In July of 2015, the AHL honored the Iowa Wild by naming it the Western Conference’s Best Fan Experience. The Iowa Wild 2015-16 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play its 2015-16 season at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
