LATE SURGE FALLS SHORT AS WILD DROPS 3-2 DECISION TO WOLVESLATE SURGE FALLS SHORT AS WILD DROPS 3-2 DECISION TO WOLVES Iowa Returns Home Friday to Host Rochester at 7 PM ROSEMONT, IL – The Iowa Wild (21-43-2-2, 46 points) were defeated by the Chicago Wolves (34-25-6-1, 75 points) 3-2 in front of 7,720 fans on Sunday at Allstate Arena. Chicago’s power play connected for a goal in each period and held off the Wild down the stretch for the win. Right wing Ty Rattie and defenseman Brendan Bell factored in all three Wolves power-play goals. Rattie finished with a goal and two assists, while Bell had three assists. Forward Adam Cracknell and defenseman Colton Parayko also scored, as Chicago improved to 6-1-0-0 on the season. Wolves goalie Matt Climie (13-12-3) stopped 15 of 17 in the home win. Wild goalie John Curry (11-19-2) suffered the defeat with 33 saves. Iowa forwards Marc Hagel and Brett Sutter each scored, as the Wild extended its winless streak to eight games (0-6-1-1-). Iowa returns home for the first of four straight at Wells Fargo Arena beginning with Rochester on Friday, Apr. 3 at 7 p.m. The Wolves opened the scoring at 10:13 of the first period with a power-play goal from Adam Cracknell. Wolves defenseman Brendan Bell played puck down the left wing for Ty Rattie. Rattie slipped a pass to Cracknell in the left-wing circle and he snapped his eighth goal of the year past John Curry for the 1-0 lead. In the second period, the Wolves capitalized on the club’s second power play of the game for the 2-0 lead. Defenseman Colton Parayko scored his second goal of the season with blast past Curry at 4:24. Rattie and Bell each picked up their second assist of the night on the tally. The Wild countered at 10:53, trimming the deficit to 2-1 behind Marc Hagel’s 11th goal of the year. Rookie Zack Mitchell slipped a pass to Hagel in the left-wing circle. The Iowa forward beat goalie Matt Climie, pulling the team within a goal. Center Tyler Graovac also picked up an assist on the play. Chicago connected for its third power-play goal of the night, as Rattie potted a rebound at 2:15 of the final frame. Bell picked up his third assist of the game and Jeremy Welsh was also credited with a helper as Chicago moved up 3-1. Iowa trimmed the deficit down to one at 11:05 with an even-strength tally from Brett Sutter. Rookie Pavel Jenys and newcomer Jared Knight each had an assist on the goal, as both players had whacks at the puck in the crease. Sutter picked up the rebound, turned and fired a shot past Climie for his 10th goal of the year and a 3-2 Wolves lead. Iowa returns home to host Rochester at 7 p.m. on Friday, Apr. 3 to begin a four-game home stand. Friday’s game is Iowa Speedway Race Car Night, where multiple pace cars will be on hand. The first 5,000 fans receive an Iowa Wild rally towel, presented by ALT 106.3, KISS 107.5FM, Iowa Speedway and Fast Signs. It’s also a $2 Beer Night, presented by 100.3 The Bus. Fans may purchase 10-ounce domestic beers for only $2 through the first period of play. Iowa continues its four-game home stand against the Texas Stars at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April. 7. It’s a Taco Tuesday – presented by Taco Johns, where each fan that comes to the game receives a coupon for a free crispy beef taco from Taco Johns. It’s also two-for-one Tuesday, where fans may purchase one attack end ticket and receive a second ticket free, sponsored by Hits 99.9 FM. Also, those who bring in a Subway receipt may purchase a $5 game ticket at the box office. Iowa hosts the Rockford IceHogs at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Apr. 9. It’s a Throwback Thursday, where fans may purchase popcorn for one dollar, presented by 95 KGGO. Also, those who bring in a Subway receipt may purchase a $5 ticket at the box office. Iowa finishes its home stand against Oklahoma City at 7 p.m. on Friday, Apr. 10. It’s Fan Appreciation night featuring a team poster giveaway to the first 5,000 fans, sponsored by Mercy Medical Center, Prairie Life Fitness, Edwards Printing and MB2 Raceway. The team is also holding a Chuck-a-Duck at Friday’s game, where fans may purchase rubber ducks to throw on the ice during intermission. All proceeds from the event go to benefit the Youth Emergency Shelter and Services. sIt’s also STEM Night, where a $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the student who designs the best helmet to reduce concussions for hockey players, presented by Des Moines University. It’s also a $2 Beer Night, presented by 100.3 The Bus. Fans may purchase 10-ounce domestic beers for only $2 through the first period of play. The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
