WILD RECALLS WALTERS AND ARCHAMBAULT, SIGNS PERRYWILD RECALLS WALTERS AND ARCHAMBAULT, SIGNS PERRY Iowa Adds A Pair of ECHL Goal-Scoring Leaders DES MOINES, IA – Iowa Wild General Manager Jim Mill announced on Thursday the American Hockey League (AHL) club has recalled forwards Ryan Walters and Olivier Archambault (Oh-live-ee-ay, Are-scham-bow) from the Alaska Aces, Iowa’s ECHL affiliate. Mill also announced the club has signed forward Joe Perry to a professional tryout agreement (PTO). Archambault played in two games for Iowa in January and was held without a point. The 21-year old is tied for eighth overall in the ECHL with 20 goals, which is also tied for second among all ECHL rookies. The ECHL All-Star has 20 goals and 18 assists for 38 points in 38 games with Alaska. The Le Gardeur, PQ native is tied for third in the league among all rookies in points. He earned an AHL contract with Iowa by scoring four goals and totaling five points in two preseason games this past fall. After wrapping up his QMJHL career last spring, the 6-foot, 190-pounder played in 10 games for the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs, picking up a goal and an assist. Over the course of his five-year QMJHL, he scored 100 goals and totaled 231 points in 270 games. He was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the fourth round (#108 overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. The 23-year old Walters returns to Iowa where he played in ten games earlier this season, scoring one goal and setting up five others for six points. The rookie winger played in 26 games for the Aces, scoring 10 goals and totaling 23 points. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound forward turned pro last spring after completing a four-year career at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. From 2010-14, Walters skated in 152 games for UNO, scoring 50 goals and adding 84 assists for 134 points. As a junior, Walters was a Hobey Baker Award finalist (Top Collegiate Player), after he led the nation in scoring with 22 goals and 52 points in 39 games. In addition, he was named to the All-WCHA First Team and NCAA (West) Second All-American Team in 2012-13. He turned pro with the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers last spring. In 11 games with the Sound Tigers, Walters scored his first pro goal and added two assists for three points. Walters is no stranger to Iowa, having suited up for the USHL’s Des Moines Buccaneers from 2007-10. He scored 39 goals and totaled 108 points in 135 USHL games. Perry is in his first full pro season with the ECHL’s Quad City Mallards. He is currently tied for eighth overall in the ECHL for goals scored (20), which sits tied for second best among all league rookies. The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder also ranks fifth among all rookies in points (36) and second among all rookies in shots on goal with 138 in 42 games played. The 25-year old sits first on the Mallards in goals and second in points. The Nanaimo, BC native attended training camp with the Iowa Wild in October. He is expected to make his AHL debut. Perry played at St. Norbert College from 2010-14. In 115 NCHA games, Perry tallied 50 goals and 56 assists for 106 points. Iowa continues on a four-game road trip with stops in Hamilton and Toronto, including the next game on Friday, Feb. 6 at Hamilton. The Wild returns home at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13 to face the Texas Stars, the start of a three-game home stand. Before Friday’s game, the Wild is holding a Career Fair from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to the Career Fair is free, and any participants taking part in the fair receives a free ticket to Friday’s game. On Saturday Feb. 14, Iowa hosts Texas and is celebrating Pink in The Rink. The first 7,500 fans at Saturday’s game receive a pink LED light, presented by Susan G. Komen of Iowa and 1700 The Champ. As part of Pink In The Rink, Iowa dons pink-in-the-rink themed specialty jerseys. After the game, the team is holding a live postgame jersey auction, with the proceeds benefitting Susan G. Komen of Iowa. Fans may purchase the Brewdog Pack, presented by Legends American Grill. The package starts at $15 per fan, consisting of a ticket, a Wild puck, a hot dog and a beer at the game. Fans also receive a beer at Legends American Grill – downtown location. Iowa finishes its three-game home stand at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb.15 against the Oklahoma City Barons. Sunday’s game is Crash’s birthday party, where the team celebrates with a superhero and mascot party. Numerous local mascots and super heroes will be on hand to help ring in Crash’s big day. The first 1,500 fans at Sunday’s game will receive an Iowa Wild insulated lunch bag, sponsored by Star 102.5. Fans may purchase the More 104 Subway Combo Pack, which starts at $12 per person, including a ticket, a hot dog, a soda and a Subway coupon. The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
