MINNESOTA RECALLS BLUM, ASSIGNS FALKMINNESOTA RECALLS BLUM, ASSIGNS FALKIowa In Oklahoma City on Saturday NightDES MOINES, Iowa – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Saturday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled defenseman Jonathon Blum from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). Minnesota also announced it has activated defenseman Christian Folin (FOE-lin) from injured reserve and placed defenseman Jared Spurgeon (SPUHR-juhn) on injured reserve with an upper-body injury. Additionally, Minnesota reassigned D Justin Falk to Iowa Friday. Blum, 25 (1/20/89), ranks T-3rd on Iowa and leads all defensemen with five points (1-4=5) and 13 shots in seven games this season. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound native of Long Beach, Calif., posted one assist and 11 shots in 15 games with Minnesota in 2013-14, totaling 29 points (7-22=29) and 111 shots in 54 games with Iowa. The blueliner has registered 23 points (7-16=23) in 106 career NHL games in parts of four seasons with Nashville and Minnesota. He was originally selected by Nashville in the first round(23rd overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and wears No. 7 for the Wild. Folin, 23 (2/2/91), returns after missing the last five games with illness. The 6-foot-3, 214-pound native of Gothenburg, Sweden has totaled four shots and 5 penalty minutes PIM in three games with the Wild this season. The defenseman totaled an assist in his only game with Minnesota last season, after signing as a free agent following his collegiate career at UMass Lowell. Spurgeon, 24 (11/29/89), suffered an upper-body injury after colliding with the boards in the Wild’s victory Thursday vs. San Jose. In nine games this season, the 5-foot-9, 176-pound native of Edmonton, Alta., leads Minnesota with 25 blocked shots and ranks T-4th with six points (2-4=6). He’s totaled four points (1-3=4) in the last five games. Falk, 26 (10/11/88), registered a plus-1 rating and two shots in two games with Minnesota since his recall Tuesday. The 6-foot-5, 222-pound native of Snowflake, Man., has totaled 8 PIM and five shots in six games with Iowa this season. Iowa continues a three-game road trip with a stop in Oklahoma City before returning home for a three-game home stand. The Wild returns home on Thursday, Nov. 6 to host Rockford at 10:30 a.m. Thursday’s game with the IceHogs is also School Field Trip Day, where the first 5,000 youths (12 and under) receive an Iowa Wild drawstring backpack, compliments of NASH FM. Iowa rounds out its home stand against Chicago with a two-game series at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8 and Sunday, Nov. 9. Saturday night is Ladies Night, where the first 2,500 fans receive an Iowa Wild ice scraper sponsored by Greater Iowa Credit Union. All ladies (21 and over) may purchase glasses of wine for $1.00. The Wild will also host Special Olympics Night on Saturday. Sunday is Pucks N’ Paws day, where the first 2,500 fans receive pet tags, compliments of Anderson Animal Hospital. It is also a Subway Family Four Pack game, where fans may purchase four tickets, four sodas and four hot dogs, starting at $48. The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
