KOMEN IOWA Pink in the Rink Nets Huge Donation For Breast Cancer Awareness Des Moines, IA – The Iowa Wild, in conjunction with Susan G. Komen Iowa®, announced on Tuesday the club raised over $36,000 through its Pink In the Rink Promotion for Breast Cancer Awareness on Saturday night. “As part of our mission to be an integral part of the Iowa community we feel it is imperative to give back”, said Iowa Wild President Todd Frederickson. “This is something that is important to us and close to the hearts of many. We can’t thank our fans enough for their generosity, especially our season ticket holders who were a major part of the auction. Komen has been a great partner and we could not be happier with the success of our inaugural Pink in the Rink.” Iowa hosted its first annual Pink in the Rink on Saturday in a partnership with Komen Iowa ®, Sammons Financial and The Champ 1700 AM. Over 10,000 fans attended Saturday’s home game against the Rockford IceHogs at Wells Fargo Arena. As part of the promotion, the team donned Pink in the Rink themed jerseys for the game. Afterwards, each player presented his jersey at the postgame live auction. Winning bidders were able to keep the jersey, meet the player, take a picture with him and get an autograph. Rookie Erik Haula led all players with the highest-priced jersey at nearly $5,000. The team also auctioned off numerous items via a silent auction on the concourse. Komen Iowa ® also received an additional donation, through a ticket sales fundraiser. “We are so proud to have been able to partner with the Iowa Wild and Sammons Financial Group to present “Pink in the Rink” over the weekend,” said Roger Dahl, Executive Director, Susan G. Komen Iowa. “Not only was this a great evening for hockey fans, it also demonstrated what can be achieved when a community comes together to support a cause that touches so many of us. With the funds raised from this event, we will be able to help Iowans across the state with screenings, diagnostics, treatments, and follow-up care services in their personal fight against breast cancer. On their behalf, we extend a sincere, heartfelt and profound thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Pink in the Rink event.” The Wild begins a three-game road trip on Wednesday in Rochester at 6:05 p.m. (CT). The team plays a pair of games at Lake Erie before returning home on Tuesday, Feb. 25 for a 5:35 p.m. faceoff with Rockford. The game is a $2 Tuesday, where fans can purchase any level ticket with a $2 discount. 200 Level seats will be available for $2 to the first 200 fans to purchase upper level seats. Patrons will also be able to purchase $2 sodas, $2 popcorns, and $2 10-ounce domestic drafts (21 and older) – through the first period of play. Also, select merchandise items will be available for only $2. The team then hosts the Rochester Americans at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27.
