WILD OUTLASTS RAMPAGE FOR 3-2 SHOOTOUT WINBox Score - HERE WILD OUTLASTS RAMPAGE FOR 3-2 SHOOTOUT WIN Iowa Extends Point Streak to Five Games Des Moines, IA – The Iowa Wild (12-13-2-0, 26 points) defeated the San Antonio Rampage (11-17-0-3, 25 points) 3-2 in a shootout in front of 6,437 fans at the Wells Fargo Arena on Saturday night. The Wild outlasted the Rampage in a sudden-death seven-round shootout, extending the team’s points streak to five games (4-0-1-0). Defenseman Steven Kampfer and Raphael Bussieres each scored in regulation, helping Iowa improve to 6-10-1-0 at home. Wild goalie John Curry (1-1-0) stopped 39 of 41 shots in regulation and six of seven in the shootout win. Rampage defenseman Matt Gilroy and center Jon Matsumoto each scored in regulation, as San Antonio remained winless in its last eight road games. Rampage goalie Rob Madore (0-2-1) stopped 23 of 25 shots in regulation and five of seven in the shootout loss. Iowa continues a six-game homestand next Thursday with a 7:05 p.m. meeting against Rockford. The Rampage opened the scoring at 7:42 of the first period with a goal by forward Jon Matsumoto. The San Antonio center picked up a pass from forward Quinton Howden and fired the puck between the pads of Iowa goalie John Curry, giving the Rampage a 1-0 lead. The Wild tied the game 1-1 at 10:05 of the first period with a goal by forward Raphael Bussieres. The forward jammed in a rebound past Rampage goalie Rob Madore. Iowa defenseman Jonathon Blum and forward Carson McMillan each picked up an assist on Bussieres’ second goal of the season. After a scoreless second period, the Rampage regained the lead at 9:03 with a goal by defenseman Matt Gilroy. The defenseman blasted a shot from the blueline to give his club a 2-1 lead. San Antonio forwards Jed Ortmeyer and Bobby Butler each picked up an assist on the play. The Wild tied up the game at 12:31 with a goal by defenseman Steven Kampfer. The defenseman buried a backhand in the Rampage net, tying the game 2-2. Iowa forwards Brett Bulmer and Jake Dowell each picked up an assist in Kampfer’s second goal of the season. After a scoreless overtime the teams skated to a shootout. After five scoreless rounds, the two teams traded shootout goals to force a seventh round. Iowa’s Steven Kampfer sealed the win with the shootout goal and John Curry stopped Jed Ortmeyer for the shootout win. Wild forward Tyler Graovac also scored in the shootout. San Antonio’s Bobby Butler scored his team’s lone shootout goal. Iowa continues a six-game homestand with Rockford on Thursday, Dec. 26.
