WILD SWEEPS MOOSE WITH 3-1 WINIowa Heads to Charlotte to Meet The Checkers on Saturday at 5 PM WINNIPEG, MTB, CAN – The Iowa Wild (8-10-0-1, 17 points) defeated the Manitoba Moose (7-7-1-1, 16 points) 3-1 in front of 4,517 fans at the MTS Centre on Wednesday night. Forwards Teemu Pulkkinen and Nick Saracino each scored in the game’s first five minutes of play and the Wild never trailed on its way to a two-game sweep of the Moose. Iowa goalie Alex Stalock (4-5-0) made 26 saves for his third straight win in net. Center Grayson Downing added an empty-net score as Iowa improved to 3-3-0-0 on the road this season. Moose goalie Eric Comrie (4-5-1) stopped 31 of 33 in his second straight loss to the Wild. Iowa travels to Charlotte to meet the Checkers on Saturday at 5 PM CT. BECOME A WILD 365 MEMBER TODAY! The Wild pressed the Moose in its own zone, forcing a turnover. Goalie Eric Comrie attempted to play the puck, but forward Jordan Schroeder swept in and claimed control. Schroeder swung behind the Moose net and sent cross-crease pass to Teemu Pulkkinen, who was camped out on the back door. Pulkkinen redirected the puck into the net for his fifth goal of the season and a 1-0 Iowa lead. Defenseman Zach Palmquist added an assist on the game’s opening goal. Iowa made it a 2-0 game at 4:57, as Nick Saracino scored his first goal of the season. Center Adam Gilmour worked the puck behind the Moose net for Kurtis Gabriel. The Wild winger sent a backhander into the Moose crease. The puck banked into the net off Saracino’s skate for the two-goal lead. The Moose got on the scoreboard in the last minute of the opening period, as Jimmy Lodge jammed home a rebound for the 2-1 score. Lodge’s third goal of the year was set up by Julian Melchiori and Dan DeSalvo. BECOME A WILD 365 MEMBER TODAY! The Wild sealed the win with 49 seconds remaining in regulation after Grayson Downing potted an empty-net goal. Forward Jeff Hoggan and defenseman Hunter Warner each had an assist on Downing’s third goal of the year for the 3-1 final. The Wild continues a seven-game road trip through December 3. The team plays games in Chicago, Manitoba, Charlotte and Grand Rapids. The Wild returns back to Des Moines to welcome the Milwaukee Admirals on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
