REIGN SQUEEZES PAST WILD 6-5 IN A SHOOTOUTIowa Welcomes Rockford at 7 P.M. on Wednesday DES MOINES, IA – The Iowa Wild (5-8-0-1, 11 points) were defeated by the Ontario Reign (4-3-3-0, 11 points) 6-5 in a shootout in front of 5,907 fans on Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena. After scoring in the last 20 seconds of regulation to force overtime, Iowa was edged in a five-round shootout. Justin Auger and Mike Amadio each had a goal and an assist as Ontario picked up a win in its first visit to Des Moines. Wild defenseman Maxime Fortunus, as well as forwards Jeff Hoggan, Mario Lucia, Adam Gilmour and Alex Tuch each scored in regulation. Center Pat Cannone and left wing Teemu Pulkkinen each had two assists, and Iowa dropped to 4-7-0-1 at home this season. Reign goalie Anders Lindback (1-1-0) stopped 23 of 28 shots in regulation and four of five attempts for the shootout win. Wild goalie Steve Michalek (4-3-1) stopped 35 of 40 shots in regulation and three of five attempts in the shootout loss. Iowa welcomes Rockford for their second meeting of the season on Wednesday. BECOME A WILD 365 MEMBER TODAY! Iowa opened the scoring when right wing Alex Tuch scored his second goal of the season at 9:03 of the first period, jamming a rebound past Anders Lindback. Tuch scored off a shot from Jordan Schroeder. Colton Beck also had an assist on the goal, as Iowa claimed a 1-0 lead. Reign forward Adrian Kempe capitalized off a turnover, scoring at 18:17 of the period and tying the game 1-1. Kempe’s third goal of the year was set up by forward Mike Amadio Iowa regained the lead on Maxime Fortunus’ first goal of the season at 1:18 of the second period. Forwards Teemu Pulkkinen and Sam Anas helped make the score 2-1. Ontario’s Justin Auger scored his third goal of the season 15 seconds later at 1:33 of the middle frame, tying the game 2-2. Auger’s goal was assisted by defenseman Kurtis MacDermid. Wild forward Adam Gilmour scored his second goal of year at 7:05 of the period. The shorthanded goal was assisted by Pat Cannone and gave Iowa a 3-2 lead. Mario Lucia extended Iowa’s lead to 4-2 at 12:25 of the second period. Lucia’s third goal of the year was a rebound off of Marc Hagel’s shot. Gustav Olofsson also assisted the goal. BECOME A WILD 365 MEMBER TODAY! Reign forward Andrew Crescenzi scored his third goal of the year at 5:57 of the third period, making the score 4-3. His goal was unassisted. Defenseman Paul LaDue scored his first goal of the season for Ontario at 11:05 of the third period, tying the game 4-4. The power-play goal was assisted by Vincent LoVerde and MacDermid. Amadio gave Ontario a 5-4 lead at 12:10 of the period. His second goal of the year was set up by Auger and MacDermid. Jeff Hoggan scored his second goal of the season for the Wild at 19:41 of the period, tying the game 5-5. His goal was assisted by Pulkkinen and Cannone. The two teams skated through a scoreless overtime before going into a shootout. Sam Anas scored the lone Iowa attempt out of five chances. Sean Backman and Jonny Brodzinski each scored in the shootout for Ontario, giving the Reign the decision. BECOME A WILD 365 MEMBER TODAY! On Wednesday, the Rockford IceHogs return to Iowa for the second meeting between the two teams this season at Wells Fargo Arena. The game is a Winning Wednesdays. If the Wild wins, all fans in attendance get a free ticket to the next Wednesday game (Jan. 18). Every Winning Wednesday’s fans can purchase two Tallboys for $10. Bud Light and a hot dog. The Wild takes on the Chicago Wolves on Friday, Nov. 18 at 7 PM at Wells Fargo Arena. The Red Kettle Game is presented by the Salvation Army. The first 1,500 fans to donate to the Salvation Army receive a Red Puck. Fans can also bring in coats to donate for the Winter Coat Drive, presented by G&L Clothing.
