WOLVES LATE GOAL BITES WILDWild and Wolves Set for Rematch in Chicago on SaturdayDES MOINES, IA – The Iowa Wild (13-28-3-3, 32 points) were defeated by the Chicago Wolves (22-19-1-2, 47 points) 2-1 in front of 6,315 fans on Friday night at Wells Fargo Arena. Wolves forward Eriah Hayes scored with 3:40 to go in regulation, completing a come-from-behind victory for Chicago. Wolves’ goalie Jordan Binnington (10-7-2) made 39 saves on 40 shots for the win. Forward Danny Kristo scored the additional Chicago goal. Iowa goalie Jeremy Smith (5-14-3) made 20 saves on 22 shots for the loss. Forward Brett Sutter scored the lone Wild goal. The Wild and Wolves rematch Saturday at 7 p.m. at Allstate Arena in Rosemont. GRAB YOUR WINTER HAT TRICK TODAY - CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS After a scoreless first period, Iowa forward Brett Sutter opened the scoring at 12:48 of the second period, giving the Wild a 1-0 lead. Defenseman Zach Palmquist and forward Jordan Schroeder each tallied an assist on the goal. Sutter carried the puck into the offensive zone, wristing a shot off the side of the goal from the right circle. He picked up his own rebound from the behind the net and threw the puck on goal. The puck bounced off goalie Jordan Binnington’s skate and into the net for Sutter’s third goal of the season. Wolves forward Danny Kristo tied the game 1-1, scoring at 2:14 of the third period. Kristo carried the puck along the blue line and wristed a shot through traffic in front of the net. Goalie Jeremy Smith couldn’t find the puck through the screen, allowing Kristo to tally his 14th goal of the season. Wolves forward Eriah Hayes scored at 16:20 of the period, giving Chicago a 2-1 lead. Forward Yannick Veilleux picked up the lone assist. Veilleux fed a pass to Hayes to left of the Iowa goal. Hayes corralled the puck and flipped a backhander under the arm of Smith for his sixth goal of the season. The Wild returns home next weekend for a pair of games against the Grand Rapids Griffins, beginning with Pink in the Rink on Friday, Feb. 12. Iowa is teaming up with Susan G. Komen of Iowa to raise awareness for breast cancer with Pink in the Rink Night. The team will don pink-in-the-rink themed jerseys and the first 1,000 fans will receive pink t-shirts courtesy of 107.5 KISS FM. Fans are encouraged to wear all pink to the game for a pink out. Friday’s game includes a shootout challenge and ceremonial-puck drop with breast cancer survivors. A special lighting ceremony is also planned for all survivors and those who have perished. The Wild will also be hosting a postgame jersey auction following the game. Friday is a $2 beer night, sponsored by 100.3 The Bus. The “Bring Your Buds Bundle” is also available for purchase, including one ticket, one 16 oz. Budweiser or Bud Light at the game, one hotdog, one popcorn, $1 off a Budweiser or Bud Light 25 oz. can during the Wild game, and one free beer at Carl’s Place following the game. The Wild and Griffins faceoff again on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. Saturday is Crash’s Birthday and the team is hosting a Mascot Party and Super Hero Day, sponsored by NASH FM and NASH ICON. The first 1,500 fans receive a super hero poster. The team concludes the evening with a postgame mascot autograph session. Fans are encouraged to bring their own skates for a free postgame skate, courtesy of Grip-Tite Foundation Repair. Saturday is also Ladies Night, presented by Jim Beam and NASH FM. Ladies Night deals include $1 off glasses of wine, $5 for a regular Beam Orchard Twist, and $10 for the Beam Orchard Twist in a mason jar. “Bring Your Buds Bundle” packages will also be available for purchase. The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. For Saturday game days, the box office will open at 10 a.m. For Sunday game days the box office will open at 12 p.m. Fans may also purchase tickets by calling 1-844-55-HYVEE or by visiting participating Hy-Vee food stores locations in the greater Des Moines area.
