City receives second most all-league selections

ORLANDO – September 23, 2014 – Orlando City Midfielder Kevin Molino and Defender Luke Boden were named to the USL PRO All-League First Team today, as the league honored the top performers from the 2014 regular season.

Chosen through a vote of team management and selected media, Orlando City had the second most selections in 2014, with Defender Brad Rusin earning All-League Second Team honors.

Molino and Boden’s first team selections are the result of impressive campaigns for both players in the Club’s final season prior to entering Major League Soccer (MLS). In 27 games played, Molino, the team’s first MLS signing, had a record breaking season, producing a league-high 20 goals and 9 assists.

Molino’s 20 goals surpassed the USL PRO single-season scoring record by five goals, as the Trinidadian broke the previous mark set by his former teammate Dom Dwyer and Pittsburgh Riverhounds’ striker Jose Angulo.

A mainstay in the City defense for the past four seasons, Boden played an instrumental role in the backline, which allowed the fewest amount of goals in the season (24). In 2014, the left-back logged 2,055 minutes – the second most on the team behind Molino – notching two goals and five assists.

The finalists for Coach of the Year, Defender of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player will be announced on Wednesday, September 24, with the awards being presented at the USL PRO Championship news conference on Friday, September 26 in Sacramento.
