OCSC auction pink jerseys to raise awareness for an important cause

Over the weekend, Orlando City pro players auctioned off their pink jerseys in support of Women Playing for TIME organization. At the conclusion of the weekend, the Club raised $7,509.66, trumping last year’s auction by nearly $2,000. The proceeds will go toward cancer Technology, Immediate diagnoses, Mammography and Education (T.I.M.E.) at UF Health Cancer Center at Orlando Health.

“We [Orlando City Foundation] are delighted to have been a part of raising awareness for such an important cause,” said Foundation Chair Kay Rawlins. ““After seeing what my mother went through while she fought breast cancer, I now understand the importance of supporting women through such a terrible ordeal.”

Amongst the jerseys auctioned, Orlando City Goalkeeper Miguel Gallardo raised the most money, auctioning off his jersey at $500. Close behind, Defender Rob Valentino raised $460 from his jersey.

The mission of Women Playing for TIME is to partner with Orlando Health Foundation in support of UF Health Cancer Center – Orlando Health to defeat cancer as it affects women and their families and friends. It does so by engaging women through events and programs, providing financial resources, raising awareness among women to safeguard their own health and educating the public about programs and services at UF Health Cancer Center – Orlando Health.

Orlando Health is the official healthcare partner of Orlando City SC.
