OCSC Faces LA Galaxy II in Key Match at Home on Saturday Orlando City matches up against third-place side LA Galaxy II at ESPN Wide World of Sports
Orlando, Fla.- On Saturday evening, Orlando City SC (12-0-3, 39 points) will take on USL PRO third-place side LA Galaxy II (8-4-4, 28 points) for the first time this season. Los Dos have been chasing the league leaders, Orlando City, all season long, marking a key match for the race to first place in the USL PRO standings. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m. EST at ESPN Wide World of Sports, and the match will be live-streamed via YouTube.com/OrlandoCitySC. Sitting comfortably in first place, Orlando City set a new Club record for consecutive matches without a loss (15) on Sunday afternoon when the Lions defeated the Dayton Dutch Lions 2-0 on the road. The win over Dayton also snapped City’s consecutive win-streak record, as the Lions claimed their sixth victory in a row. Adama Mbengue and Kevin Molino provided both goals for Orlando in 2-0 win. Mbengue’s finish in the 53rd minute marked his second goal of the season, and Molino jumped on the score-sheet in the waning moments of the match. The goal boosted Molino’s tally to 10 on the season, as he remains in first place on the USL PRO scoring charts. Left-back Luke Boden was also equally impressive in the fixture against Dayton. In combination with Mbengue, the Englishman was a constant headache down the left-hand-side, whipping numerous dangerous balls into the box. Boden recorded the assist on Mbengue’s finish, which proved to be the game-winner, after bursting down the flank and cutting inside, before playing a crafty ball in the box to the Senegalese midfielder. After opening the 2014 USL PRO campaign with a strong start, LA Galaxy II has lost some momentum as of the late, dropping 11 points behind Orlando. The California based club has failed to secure a win in its last three matches, drawing Arizona and suffering defeat to Charleston and Rochester. Nevertheless, Los Dos is not a side to be taken lightly and will provide a strong push for the regular season title. LA Galaxy II has secured big wins so far this season, including a 1-0 win over the Sounders Reserves and a 5-0 drubbing of OKC Energy F.C. Striker Chandler Hoffman is the player to watch for the Galaxy. Through 16 games played, Hoffman has secured eight goals and one assist. |
