photo: Mark Thor CHICAGO (May 16, 2014) – U.S. Soccer has announced the fourth-round possible pairings for the 2014 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The fourth round will mark the opening stage of the tournament for the 16 domestic Major League Soccer (Division I) clubs, each of whom will be matched against a third-round winner. The fourth round will take place June 10-18, leaving the possibility for a number of early-round weekend games, a first in the modern era of the tournament (1995 to present). Home teams will determine the exact dates from among the visiting teams’ available dates. The exact schedule will be announced next week. Results from the third round on May 27-28 will determine the matchups and venues for the fourth round. Home teams are determined by a random selection process among those clubs that have applied to host and whose venues meet the minimum tournament requirements.
