Lions to Face Rochester and Pittsburgh on the Road Orlando set for back-to-back matches on the road this weekend
Orlando, Fla.- Orlando City SC (5-0-2, 17 points) will travel this week for a two-game road trip, featuring back-to-back matches against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds (0-2-3, 3 points) on May 9 and the Rochester Rhinos (2-1-3, 9 points) on May 10. The match against Pittsburgh is set to kick-off at 7:00 p.m. EST, and the Rochester match will begin at 7:05 p.m. EST. Both games will be live streamed via YouTube.com/ThePghRiverhounds and YouTube.com/RocRhinos. For Orlando City, the month of May will prove to be a difficult test as the Lions are scheduled to play eight games during the four-week span, including an Open Cup contest against Premier Development League (PDL) side Ocala Stampede on May 14 and an international friendly against Italian Serie A giants, A.S. Roma on May 23. City began the month with a strong start on Sunday night, however, securing a 3-1 victory over expansion side Oklahoma City Energy FC at ESPN Wide World of Sports. The win over OKC continued the Lions unbeaten run in USL PRO this season and also set a club record for most wins in a row (5). The Lions’ all-time leading scorer, Dennis Chin, provided two of City’s goals on Sunday night, and MLS signing Yordany Alvarez also notched his first goal of the season. Kevin Molino set Chin and Alvarez up with two crafty passes, moving the club’s all-time assist leader’s tally to four in 2014. After producing a 1-1 draw against Orlando in its first game of the 2014 season, Pittsburgh has had a turbulent start to its 2014 campaign, as the Riverhounds currently sit in last place in USL PRO. Leading Pittsburgh in goals is lethal Striker Jose Angulo and former Fulham F.C. Striker Collins John, with a two apiece. City and Rochester met earlier this season at ESPN Wide World of Sports and resulted in Orlando’s first win of the season. Since the 3-1 defeat, Rochester has produced a five game unbeaten streak, including a 2-0 win over the Chicago Fire Reserves at Toyota Park. The Rhinos are now in sixth place in USL PRO and are led by Forward Jimmy Banks, who has three goals on the season. |
