PROGRAM TITLE

Iowa Cubs "Promotional Pass"

OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of last season, a concern expressed to the Iowa Cubs by their season ticket holders centered around their promotional giveaways; loyal fans were upset when, arriving to the ballpark late or unable to make the game altogether, they were unable to receive the promotional giveaway. Moving forward, the Cubs' goal was to have their season ticket holders more involved, adding value to their ballpark while enticing fans to purchase season tickets. The Cubs wanted to alleviate season ticket holder's unhappiness and place their ticket sales department in a better position to handle such concerns.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Cubs offered season ticket holders a "Promotional Pass," which provides fans the opportunity to receive every promotional giveaway for the entire season, whether or not they attended the game. Every season ticket holder has the option to pick up their promotional giveaway during game day or any day afterwards. The pass is only offered to season tickets holders, at a price of $50 per pass.

According to Ticket Manager, Katie Moorhead, "The Iowa Cubs 'Promotional Pass' is a great way for season ticket holders to be included in every giveaway regardless if they attend every game or not. It's just one of the added perks available to season ticket holders as a way to show our appreciation in their support of minor league baseball and a guarantee that they won't miss out on bobble heads, jersey shirts and other great giveaways."

Iowa Cubs' "Promotional Pass" has assisted season ticket sales to games at Principal Park.

MEDIA

The "Promotional Pass" was heavily advertized during the Cubs' season ticket pick-up party before Opening Day. The Cubs' strategy was to advertise the passes to season ticket holders that had a history of missing multiple games, with long term aspirations that the passes would sell through word-of-mouth.

RESULTS

The success of the "Promotional Pass" proved the Iowa Cub's can provide family fun while maximizing profit and relieving excess inventory. As the Cubs' season progresses, they are continuing to sell numerous "Promotional Passes" and are very pleased with the results of the promotion.

According to Media Relations Manager, Andrea Breen, "In this economic climate, it has been harder to get companies to sponsor our promotions and giveaways, and the selling of these passes has been a great way to head off some of the costs in our promotional items."

A Cubs Mitt is one of many giveaways included in the Cubs' "Promotional Pass."

LOOKING AHEAD

Since the "Promotional Pass" is offered all season long, the Cubs continue to promote the passes and search for additional value to provide their most loyal customers. With much success this year already, the Cubs are eager to provide the "Promotional Pass" for many seasons to come.
