Program Title: "The Diamond is a Girl’s Best Friend, Baseball 101 for Women"

Objective: 1) Design an event  to connect women in the community with the Rivercats ballclub.  2) Use marketing efforts to make women aware of the event's sponsor, Sutter Health, and all it does in the community for that segment of the population.  3) Raise money for Sutter Health's community programs targeted directly at this segment again.

Program Description: "The Diamond is a Girl's Best Friend, Baseball 101 for Women," was designed to give women in the community, whether they are avid baseball fans or not, an opportunity to learn more about the game through hands-on activities and "chalk talk" with Rivercats coaches and players. 135 women participated this year and in addition to the on-field activities they also received a gift bag (visor, program for the event, tee-shirt, first aid kit and information on charitable recipient), lunch and autograph session.

The Sponsor and their Reaction:  The feedback received by the Rivercats has been extremely positive.  Having the event marketed over the air waves, through live reads and a few on-air contests to win tickets, really increased the event's and the sponsor's visibility, which was Sutter Health's number one objective.  The event Sold out for the second consecutive year, has raised thousands of dollars for selected sponsor programs.  The Rivercats will be following up with Sutter Health in the next couple weeks to review their program.
Result of Doing the Program:  This fun and exciting event gave women in the community the opportunity to join together and have a day for themselves at Raley Field.  From the participant's point of view, even if already well versed in baseball, they came away from the event with a new perspective of the game.  Some of the participants had never held a bat in their  hands or caught a fly ball.  Most had never had the opportunity to meet the players or coaches and most had never been on a professional baseball field, and now they have!  This program allows the Rivercats to solidify their bond with their fans, as well as generate new fans all at the same time.
