Program Title: Fan Loyalty Portal

Objective: To dramatically increase overall awareness of the Sacramento RiverCats' Fan Loyalty Portal (FLP) in order to boost new memberships and drive existing members to update their FLP profiles through the use of a Digital Interactive Video Campaign on the website.

Program Description: The Sacramento RiverCats, league leaders both on and off the field, sought to finish the 2006 baseball season on a fan friendly note. In order to reach out to their loyal fans, the RiverCats turned to SeaBridge, Inc. and LucidGuide to enhance their fan portal through the use of interactive videos. The DIV displays as a live-action video floating on the website featuring the 'Cats on-field emcee Rafael "Raffy" Siegel as he describes the features and benefits of fan interaction with the Fan Loyalty Portal. The most recent campaign using the interactive video incorporated promotional incentives such as free concert tickets to see the Dave Matthews Band or a VIP experience to 'Shag Fly Balls with the 'Cats' at one of the last home games of the season.

Whether more interested in free concert tickets to Dave Matthews Band or interacting with players before the game, the DIV campaign moved users through the promotion, registration, confirmation and ultimately online registration or purchase. The use of the interactive video helped increase the awareness of the Fan Loyalty Portal and promote season ticket renewals for 2007, online Game Day ticket sales, and upcoming in-stadium events.

Media:  The RiverCats used E-marketing to all of the fans in addition to in-game drop-in radio broadcasts during the last five games of the season.  They also used in-stadium promotions in the remaining five games using PA announcements.

Sponsor:   Comcast was the sponsor of the Digital Interactive Video, which was produced by LucidGuide.

Results: The result of the Digital Interactive Video campaign was a "Grand Slam" generating three times the average new registrations and member profile updates for the RiverCats Fan Portal.  "This promotion significantly increased membership to our Fan Loyalty Portal and drove a lot of traffic to our site!" exclaimed Kim Ponce, Promotions Manager of the Sacramento RiverCats.

Joe Wagoner, Director of Marketing for the Sacramento RiverCats, firmly agreed with Ponce explaining, "Our fans are our lifeblood, and we are always looking for innovative ways to communicate with them." The success of the promotion is largely credited to SeaBridge, Inc., a San Francisco company, for the Fan Portal and LucidGuide, working out of San Diego, for creating the Digital Interactive Video. Looking Ahead:  The Sacramento RiverCats continuously look to improve their fan communication.  The Fan Loyalty Portal interactive video promotion to finish the 2006 season was a little taste of what's "on deck" for the 2007 season. The RiverCats will continue to partner with companies such as LucidGuide and SeaBridge, Inc. which confirms that the fans have more excitement to look forward to off the field as well as on the field.
