The Worcester Bravehearts have created a ten-member board that will advise and assist the franchise’s leadership team. Board members are residents and business leaders in and around Worcester with experience ranging from a Major League Baseball executive to a small-business owner to a Little League volunteer.
“Our goal as a franchise is to offer the best outdoor, summertime, affordable family entertainment in Worcester along with high-caliber, hustle baseball featuring some of the best young athletes from around New England and the country,” said owner John Creedon, Jr. “Our advisory board will be instrumental in helping us to accomplish that goal. We’re delighted with the people who have stepped up to participate in this group and envision them assisting us with strategy and serving as a sounding board for our leadership team to make sure that we’re constantly improving every facet of the operation. At the same time, baseball is a community project and to that end, we also want to ensure that we’re doing the right things so the community and fanbase feel a sense of ownership of the team.”
The Worcester Bravehearts Advisory Board consists of:
• J.P. Ricciardi - Major League Baseball executive currently working as a special assistant with the San Francisco Giants. He previously served as a special assistant for the New York Mets from 2010 to 2018, as well as Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations & General Manager of the Toronto Blue Jays from 2001 to 2009.
• Jeremy Ahearn – Owner & Service Manager at Ahearn Equipment, Inc. in Spencer. Ahearn is a past President of the Worcester Young Businessmen's Association and serves on the executive boards for the Worcester Economic Club and for the Mohegan Council - Boy Scouts of America.
• Sandra Dunn – General Manager at the DCU Center in Worcester. Dunn also serves as a board member for Discover Central MA and the Massachusetts Sports & Entertainment Commission.
• Paul Foley – A partner at the law firm of Mountain, Dearborn, & Whiting, LLP, Paul is also President of the Emerald Club, and currently serves on the executive boards of the Worcester Rugby Football Club, the Hibernian Cultural Foundation, and the American Heart Association.
• Nisha Koshy - Former Director in the litigation department at Fletcher Tilton PC, Koshy presently lives in Holliston with her two young daughters where she actively volunteers in their schools. Koshy previously served on the Board of Pakachoag Music School of Greater Worcester and presently serves on the Board of the Holliston Music and Arts Parents Association.
• Heather Maykel – An active citizen living in Worcester with her husband and their three young sons. Maykel is also a member of the UMass Medicine Development Council and a volunteer with Joe Schwartz Little League.
• Michael Mudd – Worcester State University Director of Athletics and former President of the Worcester Sharks AHL hockey team. Mudd has served on the boards of the March of Dimes, Devereux Massachusetts, and the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce.
• Timothy Murray – President & CEO of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce. He was previously the Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Mayor of the City of Worcester.
• Andrew Salmon - Director of Network Development at Salmon Health and Retirement, a multi-faceted company that is a leader in independent retirement communities, assisted living residences, adult day health centers, and rehabilitation and skilled nursing centers. He is a graduate of Wheaton College, where he played baseball for one of the premier NCAA Division III programs in the nation.
Chris Hall, former Commissioner of the Futures League, voiced his support of the endeavor by saying, “The Creedon family is doing a wonderful job of including the Worcester business and baseball community in the direction and strategy of their franchise right out of the gate. We anticipate that the outstanding people on their Advisory Board will provide great support and guidance for the success of our Worcester franchise."
