Hot Hitting Continues Against Suns

Worcester, MA-  The Pittsfield Suns visited Hanover Insurance Park for the first time of the season Sunday afternoon. The Bravehearts were able to shut down Pittsfield’s bats in a 6-1 victory.

The Bravehearts got the scoring going early in the first inning. Chris Rinaldi singled to right field to lead off the game and quite literally brought himself home. He proceeded to then steal second, and third before coming home on a passed ball.  The Bravehearts then added their second run of the day in the second inning after designated hitter Derek Adamson launched a solo home run over the left field fence.

Worcester added another run in the third inning after Michael Dellicarri grounded into a 1-6-3 double play which scored Christian Rinaldi. The shortstop Rinaldi recorded his second hit of the day with the lead-off single, finishing 2-4 with three stolen bases and two runs scored.

The runs continued to come in the fourth inning. Worcester loaded the bases with a Dustin Harris base hit, and back-to-back walks from Derek Adamson and Joe Pesce. Edward Lehr delivered an RBI single in his first hit with the Bravehearts to run the score to 4-0.

On the bump for Worcester was Patrick Gallagher making his first start of the season. The righty went six innings giving up only one run which was unearned. Gallagher also struck out four batters while allowing only three hits picking up his first win.

 The ‘Hearts added one more run in the seventh inning after Michael Dellicarri singled and advanced to third on walks from Brett Coffel and Derek Adamson. Delllicarri then came into scored on a passed ball. In the following inning, Michael Dellicarri came up once again and delivered an RBI single scoring Christian Rinaldi to make it 6-1.

Worcester will visit Pittsfield Monday at 6:30 pm. The next home game will come on Tuesday at 10:30 am against the Brockton Rox.
