Bravehearts Bats Wake Up in Win

Worcester, MA - The Worcester Bravehearts defeated the New Britain Bees 12-8 during their Thursday morning matinee. With the win, the Bravehearts get back to .500 on the season.

 

It was the Bees who got the scoring going early in the top of the first after a Justin King (Harvard) error in left field brought in Joel Lara (Franklin Pierce). The Bravehearts answered quickly striking for two in the first and three in the second to take a 5-1 lead. 

 

Holden-native Kosta Drosidis (Anna Maria) got the first two runs on the board with a double, scoring Sebastian Mexico (Fordham) and Lewis Barnum (Bryant). A Jack Goodman (Pepperdine) single brought in Mark Darakjy (Northeastern),which was followed by a Gavin Noriega (Marist) single which brought in Connor Peek (Holy Cross) and Goodman.

 

The Bees were able to tie the game up with a four-run fourth inning, highlighted by an RBI double by Jeff Nichol (Central Connecticut) and a two-run triple by Zach Donahue (Eastern Connecticut State). 

 

Worcester responded with a six-run fifth inning and never looked back. Darakjy and Peek each had an RBI single before Mexico cleared the bases with a three-run double. Mexico was quickly brought home by Noriega to increase the lead to 11-5. Mexico finished the game with three runs scored and three RBI.

 

Drosidis added insurance in the seventh with an RBI single to bring home Mexico. Five Bravehearts were able to record multi-hit games, with Peek and Drosdis recording three a piece. 

 

The Bees added three runs in the ninth to cut the lead to 12-8, but could not do any further damage.

 

The Bravehearts will play the final game of their home stand tomorrow at 6:30 pm before going on the road for six consecutive games. They will return home on Saturday, July 9 at 1 pm for a game that will be televised on NESN. Tickets can be purchased at www.worcesterbravehearts.com
