Walk-Off Win Sinks Worcester

Nashua, NH— Late-game heroics by the Nashua Silver Knights sunk the Worcester Bravehearts 3-2 at Holman Stadium Sunday afternoon.

The game-winning hit for Nashua came in the bottom of the ninth, when a bloop single to left field by Kyle Hannon (Penn State) scored Mike Maher (Stonehill).

The Bravehearts drop to 5-4 with the loss while Nashua moves to 3-5.

Worcester struck in the top of the first thanks to an Alex Neff (Dayton) RBI single that scored Dakota Harris (Polk State).

Nashua tied the game in the bottom of the second when a Craig Corliss (UMass Boston) RBI single brought home Tyler Gonzalez (Stetson). Corliss would come through for the Silver Knights again in the sixth with another RBI single that scored Lucas Carmichael (William & Mary), giving Nashua a 2-1 lead.

The Bravehearts stormed back in the ninth to tie things up. After a Nick Martin (Westfield State) two-out single, Harris drove him in and tied the game with an RBI triple.

Nashua’s Noah Wachter (Plymouth State) picked up the win, giving up one earned run across an inning and a third on two hits and a walk. Ryan O’Donnell (Salve Regina) took the loss for Worcester, allowing a run in two-thirds of an inning, giving up a hit and a walk while striking out two.

The Bravehearts have Monday off before returning to Fitton Field Tuesday evening to host the Norwich Sea Unicorns. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
