Home Opener Suspended Due to Rain

Worcester, MA – The 2021 home opener for the Worcester Bravehearts against the Westfield Starfires has been postponed due to thunderstorms. The date and time of the makeup will be announced at a later date. 

The game was halted in the middle of the third inning as rain began falling at Fitton Field. 

Per FCBL rules, the game will resume in the third inning as a full nine-inning game, followed by a seven-inning game as part of a doubleheader.

In the first two-plus innings of action, the ‘Hearts hitting crew came through in both frames. 

After Westfield scored on a Jackson Peterson fielder’s choice, Worcester tied the game on a Rico Riley (Jackson State) RBI single that scored Dakota Harris (Polk State).  The Bravehearts continued the hot start in the second, scoring two runs on groundouts by Buddy Mrowka (Northeastern) and Nick Martin (Westfield State). Riley drove in Harris and Michael Chaves Jr. (Worcester State) on another single, giving him three RBI.

The game was postponed in the  third inning with the Bravehearts holding a 5-2 lead. Fans who keep their ticket stubs from Wednesday night will be able to attend the completed game at a later date.
