Navigators end Bravehearts win streak

Lynn, MA - The Bravehearts went into North Shore looking for their fifth consecutive win on Thursday night. The Navs however played spoiler as they came away with a 4-1 victory at Frasier Field.

Carsen Hauben (Rollins College) made his first start in a Bravehearts uniform on Wednesday night. The right-hander who is a former St John’s High School and Shrewsbury Legion alum went three innings giving up two runs while striking out five Navigators.

The Navs got the scoring going in the third striking for two runs. RBI singles by Ben Malgeri and Logan Bravo brought home Luis Martinez and Peter Burns to jump out to the early lead.

Worcester got on the board in the fifth inning with a Trevor Johnson (Dartmouth) double followed by an RBI single by Danny Torres (Saint Leo) cutting the lead in half to 2-1.

It was Deja vu for the Bravehearts in the seventh as Malgeri and Bravo both recorded RBI singles, this time bringing in Burns, and Malgeri scoring himself to extend the lead to 4-1.

Jakob Barker (Valdosta) came in for relief for Worcester in the fourth, pitching three shut-out innings. The righty recorded six K’s including the 3,000th career strikeout in Bravehearts history and the 100th of Barker’s career with the franchise. With his 103rd strikeout, he passed Frankie Moscatiello for most strikeouts in Bravehearts history (regular season and playoffs combined).

Evan Christopulos got the win for the Navigators going 4 innings, giving up one run, two walks and striking out seven. Beau Dana got the save for North Shore.
