WEYMOUTH, Mass. -- The Futures Collegiate Baseball League is excited to announce the creation of its official Hall of Fame, which will recognize those that have made the greatest impact on the league since its inception in 2011. Commissioner Joe Paolucci made the announcement on Friday.
The Futures Collegiate Baseball League Hall of Fame will exist to recognize and honor the Administrators, Players, Coaches, Teams and Contributors for their achievements and/or contributions to the FCBL.
“This is a great time to recognize the people that have made the Futures League what it is today,” Paolucci said. “I am very excited to bring this Hall of Fame to life and to be able to celebrate the excellent contributions that have made us the best collegiate baseball league in New England.”
A maximum of 10 individuals will be inducted into the Hall of Fame every other year. The first honorees are set to be recognized this fall, following the league’s 10th season.
Hall of Famers will be divided into the five aforementioned categories:
Players are eligible for induction five years after their final FCBL season. They should have won season-long awards, been a significant member of successful teams and/or gone on to a professional baseball career.
Coaches are eligible after their active coaching career in the FCBL is completed. They must have managed or coached for a minimum of two seasons in the league, have been a part of successful teams and be known to have greatly enhanced the players he/she coached.
Teams can be inducted for “great achievement” during at least one season.
Contributors and Administrators must have contributed significantly to the greater good of the FCBL, whether it be building or enhancing an FCBL franchise or the league as a whole. There is no waiting period for eligibility in these two categories.
Nominations for the FCBL Hall of Fame are now being accepted. To access the nomination form or for more information, visit thefuturesleague.com and click on the links under the “Awards” tab.
Any individual with a demonstrated interest in the FCBL may submit nominations for potential Hall of Fame inductees to be evaluated by a FCBL Hall of Fame Selection Committee that will be chaired by Paolucci. Candidates must receive a three-quarters vote from the Committee to be approved for induction.
