Worcester, MA— The Futures Collegiate Baseball League of New England has published the 2020 Futures League regular season schedule. The Futures League’s tenth season — and the Worcester Bravehearts' seventh — will open on Wednesday, May 27, 2020.

The Bravehearts will begin at home against the Futures League’s newest franchise - the New Britain Bees, who announced on Monday that they would be joining the league for the 2020 season. The Bravehearts will also host the Pittsfield Suns on Saturday night, May 30 in a rematch of the first-round playoff game last season that was won by Worcester and began the team’s journey to its fourth championship. The championship ring ceremony will take place on one of those two dates, and a final decision will be announced in the spring.

The first of four Friday Night Fireworks shows will occur on June 5 against the Westfield Starfires. The Bravehearts will also host fireworks shows on June 19 and July 17 vs. North Shore as well as July 24 vs. Brockton. Worcester will play six of its final nine game games at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field beginning on July 23 and culminating with the final home game on Saturday, August 1 against Pittsfield.

The 2019 Futures League will include seven teams, just as it did last season: the Nashua Silver Knights, North Shore Navigators, Brockton Rox, Westfield Starfires, and Pittsfield Suns in addition to the New Britain Bees. New Britain will also host the 2020 All Star Game on July 14th at New Britain Stadium, a gorgeous 6,146-seat facility with luxury suites. The Bristol Blues have departed the Futures League.

While the regular season will once again run for 56 games, the 2020 schedule will feature two halves and a subsequent new playoff format. Just four teams will qualify for the playoffs, with both the semifinal and championship rounds now being contested as best-of-three series.

The first half of the regular season will conclude on Tuesday, June 30, with the first-place team at that point locking up the No. 1 seed for the playoffs in August. The second-half champion will be the No. 2 seed. The remaining two playoff spots will go to the teams with the next two best records combined.

After welcoming its 2,000,000th fan in history last summer, the Futures League looks to maintain its momentum as New England’s most popular summer collegiate league. The league drew a total of 254,297 fans during the 2019 regular season, while the annual All-Star Game brought another 3,296 to historic Wahconah Park in Pittsfield, Mass. According to Ballpark Digest, the 1,331 fans per game ranked the league third among across summer collegiate baseball in the United States.

Season tickets, group outings, mini plans and flex packs are now on sale by calling the Bravehearts office at 508-438-3773. Single-game tickets will go on-sale in April.

Since 2011, the Futures League has experienced a meteoric rise to become one of the top summer collegiate leagues in the country. This rise is due in large part to the league’s well-capitalized ownership groups featuring franchises with tremendous facilities in outstanding communities. In addition, the Futures Collegiate Baseball League provides family-friendly and affordable fun for its host communities in a minor league-style setting. Learn more at www.thefuturesleague.com.
