Bravehearts Clinch First Round Bye
Victory in Nashua locks Worcester into two seed
Nashua, NH - The Bravehearts went into Thursday night needing only one win to clinch a first-round bye. They got the job done, with a convincing 7-1 victory in Nashua against the Silver Knights.
Henry Ennen started the game for Worcester going 3 2/3 innings giving up five hits, one walk and one earned run. However, it was Kendal Pomeroy who earned the win, going 1 1/3 giving up two hits and no runs.
After three scoreless innings, the Bravehearts got on the board in the fourth inning. After Paul Gozzo and Kirk Sidwell singled, three consecutive Bravehearts players recorded RBI singles. Mariano Ricciardi, Edward Haus and Michael Dellicarri all recorded RBIs to give Worcester a three run lead. After a Dustin Harris walk, an error by Cody Morisette at shortstop off the bat of Brett Coffel allowed another run to score in the inning.
Worcester added two more in the seventh which was started with a Gozzo double. Gozzo then stole third and advanced home on a throwing error. Tyler Becker then came up and singled home Sidwell who reached on an error.
The runs continued for Worcester in the eighth. Michael Dellicarri doubled which was followed by a Dustin Harris RBI single to increase the lead to 7-1.
Because of a Martha’s Vineyard win, Worcester now can not catch them for first place in the FCBL. They are now officially locked into the two-seed and have received a first round bye.
The Bravehearts will return home tommorow to face the Martha’s Vineyards Sharks for the Bravehearts final regular season home game of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 and will have post-game fireworks.
