Bravehearts Stay Hot

Bristol, CT - Riding a five game winning streak, Worcester came into Bristol looking to continue their hot streak. They did just that, shutting out the Blues with an 8-0 victory.

Worcester broke the scoring open early in the third inning. Dustin Harris lead off the inning with a base hit up the middle, and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Jon Hansen was able to bring Harris home on a base hit for the early lead.

In the next inning, Worcester continued to jump on Bristol. Eddie Haus began the rally with a walk, followed by Brett Coffel getting hit by the pitch. Harris continued the inning with his second hit of the day, ripping a double to score Haus. After a Hansen walk, Coffel was able to score on a Justin-Henry Malloy error off the bat of Joe Pesce.

Dustin Harris and the Bravehearts would strike again in the sixth. After Harris singled for his third hit of the day, Jon Hansen followed with a single of his own. Manager J.P. Pyne then called for a double steal. On the throw down to third, Bristol catcher Bryce Ramsey over threw third basemen Malloy allowing Dustin Harris to score the fourth Bravehearts run.

The story of the day was Bravehearts starter Joseph Mancini. The righty went 6 1/3 scoreless innings allowing only five hits and one walk while striking out six.

For the lineup, the story of the game was Harris. The first basemen went 4-5 on the night, with a double, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored.

Bristol allowed three more runs in the ninth, letting the game get away. Mark Silvestri walked Mariano Ricciardi to lead off the inning, which was then followed by Chris Rinaldi grounding to third base. Malloy charged in and overthrew the first basemen, sailing the throw into right field. Rinaldi then advanced to third on the error and was brought in on an Edward Haus ground ball. After a plethora of walks, Harris then grounded to shortstop. An error by Loparco allowed Michael Dellicarri to score.

With the win, the Bravehearts have won 9 of their last 10 games. The team will return home when the North Shore Navigators visit Hanover Insurance Park for the first time all season tomorrow night.  First pitch will be at 7:05 pm.
