Parker’s Grand Slam Lifts Lincoln to Win #10

Parker’s Grand Slam Lifts Lincoln to Win #10

Early on, it seemed to be a quiet night for the Lincoln Potters, who were riding high off of their eighth win in a row. An electric fourth inning would change that in a heartbeat, capped off by Cade Parker’s go-ahead grand slam to put the Potters up for the first time all game.

The action would start early for the Menlo Park Legacy, who were coming off a 10-2 loss in Lincoln just 24 hours prior. Menlo would jump on starter Jackson Halverson for three first inning runs, followed by another three in the fourth. The Potters would respond for three of their own runs in the bottom of the fourth, two of which coming from Andrew Sloan on a two-run single.

From this point forward, it was all Potters, as ten batters would come to the plate and score seven runs in the very next inning. The turning point of the game would come courtesy of Georgia Southern’s Cade Parker, who roped a grand slam over the left field wall to make it 10-7 Potters. They would score four more across the next three innings, totaling 14 runs in the ballgame, which was more than enough to seal the win.

Earning the win on the mound was Gerald Hanson, who did a very solid job limiting damage and holding Menlo to limited runs in the middle innings across his 2.1 innings of work. Following Hanson was Gabe Maya, who threw a scoreless inning, and Liam Golden and Nolan Thebiay would combine for the final two innings.

This 14-8 win for the Potters is their ninth in a row, and tenth on the season. They will go for another one at McBean on Saturday night against the West Coast Kings Gold on Fireworks Night and Cider Saturday at the ballpark. First pitch is slated for 30 minutes earlier than normal, at 6:05pm.
