Potters’ Late Comeback Seals Win #5 In a Row

The final Potters game of the week kicked off on Slice Sunday, and things once again were going in the wrong direction at a point in the ballgame, but another magical Potters comeback sealed the win late, good for their fifth in a row and seventh of the season.

The action started right away, as Luke Mansy scored the first run of the ballgame on JT Waldon’s RBI groundout in the bottom of the first. Alpha Prime would tie the game in the next inning, but the Potters punched back again with three runs in the bottom of the second, courtesy of a sacrifice fly from Cole Eaton and singles from Luke Mansy and Jake Tandy. Things would turn south quickly after this point, as Alpha Prime would crooked numbers in their next three trips to the plate, quickly putting the Potters in a 9-4 hole. Alpha Prime’s pitching would keep the Potters off the board until the 7th inning, leaving little hope of a Sunday victory.

Another rally would soon begin however, as JT Waldon would begin the RBI party with a 2-run bases clearing triple that split the right-center gap, scoring Luke Mansy and Jake Tandy. JR Freethy would follow him up with an RBI double, and the tying runs would score soon after on a throwing error by Alpha Prime. The final blow would be dealt by Cole Eaton, who poked a double into right field just out of the reach of Bo Smith in right field. This would be the final run scored by either team, as the Potters would hang on to win by a final of 10-9.

Earning the win on the mound in this one was left-hander Jack Nilsson, who pitched two scoreless innings in relief for Lincoln, only allowing one hit and striking out three. He would then turn the ball over to Gerald Hanson, who logged two scoreless innings in a row to put Alpha Prime away, earning his first save of the season. Other notable outing would come from starter Andrew Balentine (2 IP, 1 ER, 1 K) and William Gnibus (1 IP, 0 ER, 1 K).

The Potters will have the day off tomorrow before returning to McBean on Tuesday, June 4 to take on the West Coast Kings on 2-fer Tuesday. First pitch is slated for 6:35pm. Potter Up!
