(August 8, 2019 – York, Pa.):  The York Revolution belted three long balls to snap a three-game skid, powering past the Somerset Patriots 9-3 on Thursday night in front of 4,759 fans at PeoplesBank Park.  The Revs improve to 19-8 in the second half with the win holding a 2.5-game lead for first place and will embark on a six-game road trip beginning Friday night at High Point.

Former Patriot Mitch Atkins got the start for York in the series finale. Atkins ran into some early issues as Craig Massey led off the game with a walk. After the Revs right-hander fought back to retire Teodoro Martinez, Will Kengor walked to set the table. Edwin Espinal flied out, but Mike Ohlman delivered a two-run single to left to score Massey and Kengor, giving Somerset an early 2-0 lead. 

Following a scoreless second inning from Atkins, York tied things up in the bottom of the frame. Isaias Tejeda led off the inning with a single to left-center and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Welington Dotel followed with an RBI double off of the Arch Nemesis in left to cut the lead to 2-1. After Somerset starter David Holmberg retired the next two, James Skelton drew a two-out walk. Dotel stole third and crossed the plate on an RBI single to left from Alvaro Rondon deadlocking things at 2-2.

Atkins worked his second consecutive 1-2-3 inning in the top of the third and York took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the frame when Telvin Nash blasted a solo home run to deep left, his 31st of the season and fifth in eight games.

The Patriots fought back to tie things at 3-3 in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice fly from Yovan Gonzalez.

The York offense used the long ball to make the bottom of the fifth inning miserable for Somerset reliever Nate Roe. Tejeda ignited the York run with a one-out solo home run over the Nemesis to grab the 4-3 lead. After Dotel stroked his franchise record-tying third double of the game off of the top of the wall in left, Melky Mesa blasted a two-run home run to left to extend the York advantage to 6-3.

Atkins tossed a shutdown 1-2-3 top of the sixth inning while picking up a pair of strike outs. 

The Revs bats stayed hot in the bottom of the sixth. Justin Trapp got things started with a walk and Angelys Nina drew another walk from former Rev James Pugliese to set the table for Nash. The power-hitting first baseman drilled an RBI double down the left field line, scoring Trapp, and moving the lead to 7-3. With runners on second and third and nobody out, Tejeda lofted a sacrifice fly to right to plate Nina and run the lead to 8-3. Mesa capped off the scoring by slapping an RBI single up the middle to score Nash and finalize the score at 9-3.

Atkins continued to dominate as he stranded a pair of runners en route to a scoreless seventh inning. Cesar Cabral faced the minimum in the eighth, turning an inning-ending double play to counter a one-out single. Phil Walby fought around a base hit and hit batter to work a scoreless inning of his own, slamming the door and giving York a home win before the week-long road trip.
