REVS FALL TO PATRIOTS

(August 6, 2019 – York, Pa.):  Telvin Nash became the second in York Revolution history to hit 30 home runs in a season but the Revs suffered their most lopsided defeat of the season, falling 16-1 to the Somerset Patriots on Tuesday night at PeoplesBank Park.  The Revs have dropped the first two of the series after having won each of their previous eight contests which tied a franchise record winning streak, and will look to bounce back on Wednesday in game three of the four-game series at 6:30 p.m.

York starter Ricky Schafer ran into trouble in the top of the first inning. After leadoff man Craig Massey flied out, Justin Pacchioli singled and stole second to give Somerset a threat. Will Kengor followed with an RBI double to give Somerset a 1-0 lead.

The Revs scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the first. Nash smashed a two-out solo home run to right-center off of Patriots starter Rick Teasley to tie the game at 1-1, making him the first Atlantic League player since 2012 with 30 home runs in a season.

Both pitchers worked scoreless seconds to keep the score tied at 1-1 heading into the third, but Somerset’s offense broke out in a big way in the top of the third as they scored seven runs highlighted by a pair of three-run home runs from Mike Ohlman and Teodoro Martinez, pushing the lead to 8-1 after three.

Somerset batted around for the second straight inning in the top of the fourth, adding six more runs on two more home runs extending the lead to 14-1. Kengor and Gabriel Bracamonte both went yard in the inning with a bases loaded walk and a run-scoring double play in between.

Ohlman capped off the Somerset offensive outburst with a two-run home run, his second of the game, in the top of the fifth extending the score to 16-1.

Things settled down late as Rob Carson worked a perfect top of the sixth, the first 1-2-3 inning of the game for Revs pitching. Phil Walby worked two scoreless innings and Sam Burton followed with a scoreless ninth.

Teasley (3-1) worked six innings to earn the win, bouncing back from his previous start in which York hammered him to the tune of 11 runs and four home runs in five innings of work.

Notes: Nash’s is the league’s first to 30 home runs in a season since York’s Chris Nowak set the club record with 34 in 2012.  The 15-run defeat is the Revs’ most lopsided of the season. The 16 runs and five home runs allowed are both season-highs. York has still outscored opponents by 78 runs on the season and by 143 runs since June 10.  The Revs are now 18-7 in the second half, holding a 1.5-game lead for first place. York righty Ricky Eusebio (0-0, 2.25) will face Somerset right-hander Liam O’Sullivan (3-6, 3.84) on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. It is Dance Night, Kids Eat Free Wednesday presented by PeoplesBank, College Night (50% off with Student ID), DownTown's Birthday Bash presented by PA Virtual Charter School, and Shipley Energy Night.  Tickets are on sale at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Revs Ticket Office.
