REVS WIN 6TH STRAIGHT ON ROAD

(July 30, 2019 – Bridgewater, NJ):  Dan Minor worked six strong innings and Angelys Nina drove in all three runs for the York Revolution in a 3-1 victory over the Somerset Patriots on Tuesday evening in front of 4,177 fans at TD Bank Ballpark.  The win is the sixth in-a-row on the road for the first place Revs, kicking off a seven-game road trip.

Nina opened the scoring in the top of the second inning.  Carlos Franco got things going with a one-out single to right field off Patriots starter Thomas Dorminy, and Welington Dotel bunted for a base hit, extending his hitting streak to 10 consecutive games.  That set the table for Nina who ripped a two-run double down the left field line, extending his own hitting streak to eight games in-a-row and putting York on top 2-0.

Somerset made a bid to get on the board in the home half of the second, but Melky Mesa fired home to nail Jimmy Paredes at the plate, attempting to score on a two-out single to left by Yovan Gonzalez.

The Patriots did cut the Revs’ lead in half in the third as Justin Pacchioli tripled down the right field line and came home on a Ramon Flores single to right-center, making it a 2-1 game.

Minor (6-5) allowed nothing further as his final three innings were scoreless, retiring nine of the last 10 batters he faced.  He allowed just one run on five hits over a season-high six innings with one walk and three strike outs.

Dorminy (5-6) also dealt for the majority of his outing, striking out a season-high 10 batters over seven strong frames with just two runs on five hits.  He denied the Revs of an insurance run in the seventh, stranding Dotel at third after a walk, stolen base, and an advancement on a Nina ground out.

York’s bullpen preserved the one-run advantage as Cesar Cabral fired a perfect seventh and Josh Judy did likewise in the eighth for his team-leading ninth hold.

The Revs scraped across an insurance run in the top of the ninth as Dotel fought off a two-out single into shallow right and stole his second bag of the game.  That set up Nina who served an RBI single into right field for his third RBI of the night and 10th in his last five games.

Jameson McGrane nailed down his 11th save, working past some initial trouble.  Will Kengor started the ninth with a 10-pitch walk before Edwin Espinal singled down the left field line.  Kengor advanced to third on the play, but Espinal was thrown out attempting to move to second as Mesa threw in to third and Franco relayed to Nina to cut down the potential tying run.  McGrane powered past Paredes with a strike out for the second out, and retired Craig Massey on a game-ending ground out.

Notes: Revs pitching has held opponents to just one run on six hits in back-to-back games.  York is 12-2 in its last 14 series openers.  The Revs have won a franchise record six consecutive games on the road; it is their third streak of four or more this season and second of five or more.  York has won 17 of its last 20 on the road overall.  The Revs improve to 6-8 against the Patriots, having won six of the last eight meetings including three straight.  Minor is tied with Mitch Atkins for the team lead with six wins, also tied for fifth-most in the league.  The Revs improve to 10-4 in Minor’s starts.  York righty Duke von Schamann (5-3, 2.83) starts the opening game of a day-night doubleheader on Wednesday against Somerset southpaw David Holmberg (1-2, 3.95) at 11:05 a.m.  Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 98.9 FM & 1350 WOYK, 989woyk.com, The New WOYK app, and WOYK on YouTube beginning at 10:55 a.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
