(July 15, 2019 – Bridgewater, NJ):  The York Revolution launched four home runs including two from Isaias Tejeda, defeating the Somerset Patriots 6-3 in front of 4,156 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Monday night.  The win kicks off a seven-game road trip for the Revs who improve to 3-1 in the second half while having won 12 of their last 14 games.
The Revs were unable to touch Patriots starter Ryan Kussmaul in the first as the righty struck out the side in order for the second time in as many starts against York, but Tejeda unclogged the offense in the top of the second by smacking a low line drive laser home run down the line in left for a 1-0 lead, extending his team record to six consecutive games with a home run.
Revs starter Corey Walter preserved the early edge, retiring Ramon Flores on a deep fly out to center to leave the bases loaded in the bottom of the second.
James Skelton drew a one-out walk in the top of the third and Henry Castillo blasted a two-run homer to right, extending the lead to 3-0 on his ninth of the year and second in three games.
Walter again came up big in the fourth, retiring Yovan Gonzalez on a ground out to first base, stranding two in scoring position to keep the Patriots off the board.
Telvin Nash connected on a two-run homer that caromed off the top of the fence just right of the center field batters’ eye in the top of the fifth, and Tejeda followed by nailing a solo shot to deep left-center for his second of the night, as the back-to-back home runs doubled the lead to 6-0.
Walter allowed an RBI ground out by Mike Ohlman and a run-scoring single from Edwin Espinal for a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth, but retired Alfredo Rodriguez on a grounder to third on which third baseman Carlos Franco made a great backhand stab and Tejeda pulled off a fantastic pick on the throw at first base to strand two runners.
Rob Carson worked two innings out of the Revolution bullpen, allowing only an unearned run on a throwing error in the bottom of the seventh.
Josh Judy struck out two and surrendered only a two-out flare single by Mike Crouse in a scoreless eighth, while Jameson McGrane slammed the door with a pair of punch outs, giving up just a two-out single in a scoreless ninth for his sixth save.
Walter (3-3) picked up the win, allowing just two unearned runs on five hits over five innings of work.
Notes: York improves to 24-6 since June 10.  The Revs have won nine of their last 10 series openers.  Tejeda’s two-homer game is the second of his Revs career; the other was May 27, 2016 vs. Somerset.  It is the seventh multi-homer game by a Revs batter this season.  The back-to-back home runs in the fifth marked the sixth set of back-to-back jacks by the Revs this year and second by the Nash-Tejeda duo with both coming in the last four games.  Tejeda has hit all eight of his home runs this season over the last eight games including seven in the last six contests.  Nash now leads the league with 23 home runs and 58 RBI.  His 23 home runs are already tied for fourth most in a season in Revs history and match Chad Tracy (2014) and Alonzo Harris (2017) for the highest total by any Revs batter in the last seven seasons.  Judy worked his 10th consecutive scoreless outing and now has eight strike outs in four innings over the last four appearances in which he’s faced a batter; he has retired 15 of 16 hitters over his last six outings.  McGrane ties Judy for the team lead in saves and has worked a scoreless outing in 26 of his last 28, 22 of his last 23, and five consecutive appearances.  York has won three of its last four vs. Somerset.  Revs lefty Ian Thomas (3-1, 3.65) faces Patriots southpaw Rick Teasley (1-0, 2.25) on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.  Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 98.9 FM & 1350 WOYK,, The New WOYK app, and WOYK on YouTube beginning at 6:55 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
