(May 18, 2017 – Central Islip, NY):  Michael Burgess homered and drove in five to lead a potent offensive performance as the York Revolution powered past the Long Island Ducks, 8-4 in the series finale on Thursday evening at Bethpage Ballpark.  The win snaps a two-game skid for the Revs who avoid a sweep before continuing their road trip to Sugar Land this weekend.

 

The Revs got things going right from the jump as Jose Constanza worked a full count before singling up the middle to start the game.  Then with Constanza on the move, Ryan Dent slapped a single through the right side to put runners at the corners.  With one out, Burgess launched the first pitch he saw over the wall in right-center for a three-run homer and a 3-0 lead.

 

Long Island answered with a run in the bottom of the first as Fehlandt Lentini led off with a double and scored on a pair of wild pitches, but Revs starter Ty’Relle Harris retired the next three batters to get his team back to the plate.

 

York went right back to work in the third as Constanza led off with a single to left.  Dent then singled up the middle on another hit-and-run play, sending Constanza to third, and Isaias Tejeda drilled an RBI double off the base of the wall in right.  Burgess followed with a two-run single up the middle, giving him five RBI in the first three innings, and extending York’s lead to 6-1.

 

It was the top of the order igniting things again in the fourth as Constanza legged out an infield single to keep the inning alive, Dent smashed a single to center, and Tejeda cracked an RBI single to left to make it 7-1.

 

Harris had walked the first two batters in the second and third innings but dodged trouble, helping himself with a caught stealing of Lentini in the third.  The Ducks would turn two leadoff walks into a run in the fourth, however, as Cody Puckett followed with an RBI single to left, cutting the lead to 7-2.

 

The Revs recovered that run an inning later as Jared Mitchell slammed a line drive to center for a sacrifice fly and an 8-2 lead.

 

Angelo Songco cracked a homer down the right field line with two outs in the fifth, and after a bloop single by Elmer Reyes, Marc Krauss was credited with an RBI double on a shallow pop that was overrun in left as the Ducks crept within 8-4.

 

York’s bullpen slammed the door, as Michael Click, Chase Huchingson, Jarrett Martin, and Brad Allen combined for four no-hit innings.

Harris (1-2) earned the win, overcoming six walks to hold the Ducks to four runs on five hits in five innings of work.

 

Ducks starter Matt Larkins (0-3) absorbed the loss, charged with six runs on eight hits in three innings.

 

Long Island’s bullpen also settled things down, retiring the final 12 Revolution batters of the game.

 

The Revs out-hit the Ducks 14-5, tying a season-high with 14 hits.  Each of the top four hitters in the lineup posted multiple hits, with each of the front three tallying three knocks apiece.  Constanza and Dent both started the game 3-for-3.  Constanza scored three runs.

 

Notes: York’s eight runs are the second most of the season, and most since an 11-2 win at Southern Maryland on April 27.  Burgess’ five RBI are the most by a Revs batter since Andres Perez drove in five vs. Lancaster on July 3, 2016.  Burgess (2-for-5) is 9-for-20 (.450) with two home runs over his last six games and now leads the team with 15 RBI.  The Revs established a season-best with four consecutive hits, doing so to begin the third.  The Revs finish the first half 3-7 against the Ducks, but 3-3 at Bethpage Ballpark.  The two teams complete a stretch of 10 meetings in 18 days, and will not square off again until July 31 in York.  York lefty Logan Williamson (0-2, 4.50) draws the start in Friday’s opener at Sugar Land at 8:05 p.m. ET.  Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK app beginning at 7:45 p.m. ET with Darrell Henry on the call.
