REVS PICK TWO AT SHOWCASE

(April 2, 2019) — The York Revolution joined its Atlantic League of Professional Baseball counterparts at the league’s Player Showcase March 29-31 at the TigerTown Complex in Lakeland, Fla. Produced by Prospect Dugout, the showcase resulted in signings of 11 players by Atlantic League clubs, including pitchers Julio Perez and Andrew Carber, who impressed Revolution Manager Mark Mason enough to earn tickets to York.

"We're very excited to bring Perez and Carber into camp,” Mason said. “Perez was one of if not the hardest thrower in camp with his fastball in the mid to upper 90's, and Carber showed good velocity as well and had a smooth delivery for a 6 foot 9 pitcher. I believe both will and should be able to help us. I know they're very excited for the opportunity.”

ALPB officials, meanwhile, were very excited by the results of their first showcase.

“The Player Showcase was a great success in all aspects,” said Atlantic League President Rick White. “Player participation exceeded our initial forecasts and was impressive, while Prospect Dugout did a terrific job organizing and running the event. We are grateful to everyone who took part.”

The Player Showcase saw over 300 players with varying levels of previous experience participate, including many with MLB service time. More than two dozen Major League Baseball clubs were represented at the event as well.

Following the Showcase, all eight Atlantic League clubs participated in a player draft to select participants from the tryout.

The following players were chosen (draft order based upon 2018 overall regular season record):
  • High Point Rockers: Akeel Morris (P)
  • Southern Maryland Blue Crabs: John Hayes (P)
  • New Britain Bees: Jose Rosario (P)
  • York Revolution: Julio Perez (P)
  • Long Island Ducks: Jon Niese (P)
  • Somerset Patriots: Gabriel Bracamonte (C)
  • Lancaster Barnstormers: Brian Mayer (C)
  • Sugar Land Skeeters: Cesar Cabral (P)

Additional selections:
  • High Point Rockers: Antonio Nunez (P)
  • Southern Maryland Blue Crabs: Milton Perez (C)
  • York Revolution: Andrew Carber (P)
“Thank you to Atlantic League managers and coaches for their hard work and enthusiasm,” said Prospect Dugout Co-Founder Craig Maddox. “We also would like to extend our gratitude to TigerTown for their hospitality during the event.”

The Atlantic League and Prospect Dugout will announce plans for the 2020 Player Showcase in the coming months. Stay tuned to AtlanticLeague.com for further details.
