REVS UNVEIL PROMO SCHEDULE

(March 10) — PeoplesBank Park will once again be the place to be this spring and summer for wacky games and themes, live entertainment, fireworks, and more. Oh, and it’ll host baseball games as well.

The York Revolution announced today some of the highlights of its 2017 promotional schedule, illustrating again the wide range of family friendly, affordable, local entertainment that makes minor league baseball the best value in professional sports.

“We’ve got another great season lined up for fans of the Revolution, of baseball itself, and of having fun with friends and family,” said Eric Menzer, president of the Revolution. “People come to the ballpark to set the groceries, work deadlines, bills, and the rest of the 9 to 5 life aside for a great time with people they care for. That’s Revs time, and that’s what we’re excited to offer again for our 11th season.”

The team will start that season with a bang – or at least a cymbal crash – when it hosts an attempt to set a certified world record on Opening Day, April 28. Sponsored by Menchey Music Service Inc., the promotion will aim to establish the record for musicians playing the national anthem simultaneously. The team will chronicle its attempt to draw at least 1,000 musicians of all ages and abilities and submit its documentation to Guinness World Records for review.

Veteran and four-time Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steeler Rocky Bleier will headline the team’s annual Salute to Veterans on May 28, when the team again thanks local heroes by providing free tickets to all veterans.

The team will honor more heroes on May 13 when it gives free tickets to local police officers, firefighters, and EMTs during First Responders Night, presented by Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania.

In further support of its community, the Revolution has partnered with United Fiber & Data to turn the team’s five Monday games (May 1, May 22, June 19, July 31, and August 21) into Hunger Free Mondays, when fans can exchange non-perishable food donations to the York County Food Bank for free tickets to a game.

Each of the season’s 11 Saturdays, meanwhile, will again feature post-game inside-the-park fireworks, and Sunday Fundays return with pre-game autograph sessions and catch on the field, post-game kids run the bases, and $1 hot dogs presented by Hatfield Quality Meats.

More “celebrities” will take the field on August 11 when the team welcomes back the likes of “Cow Ripken, Jr.,” “Clammy Sosa,” and “Ken Giraffey, Jr.” in another visit by fan favorites ZOOperstars.

For more animal fun, the Revolution are also welcoming submissions to its first Internet Pet Festival. Fans are encouraged to share funny and amazing videos of their pets on the team’s Facebook page and Twitter account for a chance to see their submissions on the ballpark video screen on April 30, when the team will again welcome four-legged fans for Bark in the Park, presented by the Pennsylvania Veterinary Foundation.

Those looking to be stars themselves will get their chance four times in the season as the team hosts its first Revs Got Talent series. During the May 11, June 15, July 27, and August 24 games, area singers, dancers, magicians, and more will showcase their talents on the field, and votes from fans in the stands will determine which acts go on to the finale on September 14 to compete for a grand prize.

Fans themselves will be winners just by walking through the gates during any of the team’s 2017 giveaway days. This year’s giveaways include a T-shirt presented by the Law Firm of Dale E. Anstine (April 28), an eco-friendly tote bag on Go Green Night presented by York County Solid Waste Authority (April 29), a Revolution trucker hat presented by Southern York Turf & Tractor (July 1), a Revolution hat presented by Stambaugh Plumbing & Heating (August 27), a ladies Revolution hat on Ladies Night presented by HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of York (September 15), and a winter beanie presented by WellSpan Sports Medicine (September 17).

The season will also feature a wide array of theme nights that will combine fans’ love of baseball with their other pop culture and entertainment interests. Among those are Star Wars Night (May 27), Fright Night (May 26), NASCAR Night (May 30), Harry Potter Night (June 30), Independence Day Celebration (July 1), Superhero Night (July 21), and Princess Day (July 2).

The Revolution will also bring back the very popular Faith & Family Night (July 15), Sensory Friendly Night (July 20), and Bike Night (August 26) and host its first Wedding Night (August 12), which will feature a free pre-game wedding presented to a lucky couple by First Capital Federal Credit Union.

York’s professional baseball team will also welcome other local teams to celebrate their accomplishments at PeoplesBank Park. The Revolution are already booking groups for Martial Arts Night (April 29), Swim Night (May 24), Hockey Night (June 13), Soccer Night (June 24), Softball Night (July 27), and Youth Football Night (August 26).

The team has also scheduled three 11 a.m. games to welcome students for Baseball In Education days (May 3 and 31) and Camp Day (July 26).

Area scout troops will again get to stay long after other fans have left when they participate in sleepovers that feature movies on the center field video screen, camping in the outfield, and breakfast the next morning. Boy Scouts Nights are June 30 and August 11; Girl Scouts claim the field on July 14.
