REVS AIM FOR A TON OF FOOD

(August 14) — Following a tremendous outpouring of donations to the York County Food bank for the July 31 Hunger Free Monday event, the York Revolution announced today that it is striving to exceed 2,000 pounds in food in its tickets-for-donations campaign.

To date, the season-long partnership between the Revolution, United Fiber & Data, and YRK Creative has generated more than 1,525 pounds in donations of non-perishable food items for the Food Bank.

United Fiber & Data will donate 50 cents to the Food Bank for each pound of food donated at PeoplesBank Park.

“We were thrilled by the generosity of the people of York County for our last Hunger Free Monday. We expected to reach 1,000 pounds last month and instead hit more than half as much more,” said Revolution President Eric Menzer. “Fans and the people of this area have been supporting neighbors in need all season, and their response last time makes us very confident we can reach a ton in donated food. To encourage that, we’ve decided that if you feed them, we’ll feed you. In addition to the ticket to a game, we’ll give all those who donate a free hot dog here at the ballpark.”

Donations can be dropped off at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fans making a donation will receive tickets to the Revolution’s final Monday home game, August 21, and vouchers for free hot dogs.

The Food Bank estimates that approximately 50,000 York County residents, including 17,000 children, do not have a consistent supply of and access to nutritious food.

The Hunger Free Mondays initiative features logos and other materials designed by the staff of YRK Creative, publishers of YRK Magazine. YRK Creative also developed moving profiles of Food Bank beneficiaries that have been featured in several editions of the Revolution’s playbill given to fans at each game.
