LANCASTER TAKES FINALE

(May 19, 2022 – York, Pa.):  Nellie Rodriguez went yard as part of a game-tying rally in the fourth, but a pair of solo home runs from Kelly Dugan downed the York Revolution 5-3 in their rubber match with the Lancaster Barnstormers on Thursday afternoon at PeoplesBank Park.  Lancaster takes the final two in the series after the Revs had won three of the previous four.

Lancaster jumped on righty Merandy Gonzalez early with back-to-back run-scoring singles in the first by Dugan and Andretty Cordero, both of which came with two strikes. Later in the inning, they added another on an RBI groundout from Anderson Feliz to go up 3-0.

Gonzalez ran into trouble again to begin the second, including four consecutive walks. Despite that, Gonzalez held the Barnstormers scoreless thanks to catcher Paul Mondesi cutting down Devon Torrence trying to steal second base. Gonzalez settled down from there, retiring 12 of 14 batters into the sixth.

York got a run back in the second after back-to-back two-out hits, as JC Encarnacion kept the inning alive and Jack Kenley bounced an RBI infield single on the right side against Lancaster starter Nile Ball.

The Revs knotted things up in the fourth. Rodriguez led off with a solo home run to right center field, his second of the season. Again with two outs, Mondesi came through with a line drive single to left, making it a 3-3 game.

Unfortunately for the Revs, Dugan struck again, launching a solo homer to right to lead off the fifth. Dugan would follow that up with another in the seventh, his eighth of the year and seventh in eight games against the Revs.

The Revs faced righty Josh Graham in the ninth inning for the third time in four games and were set down 1-2-3 as York fell to 3-6 in the season’s War of the Roses series.

The Revs will welcome the Lexington Legends to town for a weekend series, sending Jorge Martinez to the mound in Friday’s opener at 6:30 p.m.  It is Mental Health Awareness Night and a Fiesta Friday.  Tickets are on sale at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Shipley Energy Ticket Office.
