GARY, Ind. — The Gary SouthShore RailCats announced the signing of pitcher Joe Hauser, who replaces southpaw Jon Jones on the 23-man active roster. Hauser recently graduated from Angelo State University and signed his first professional contract on Saturday evening.
Hauser went 2-1 with a 3.04 ERA and a team-high 14 saves in 29 appearances. In 50.1 innings, Hauser struck out 34 batters and just walked nine.
Jones finished without a record and a 9.52 ERA in two relief outings for the RailCats. Jones signed with Gary on June 12 after pitching for the Gateway Grizzlies of the Frontier League in 2016.
The RailCats and Saltdogs wrap up their three-game series on Sunday at 2:05 p.m. Southpaw Carlos Diaz (0-0, 3.79) opposes Lincoln right-hander Carlos Pimentel (3-0, 1.80) in the rubber game on Sunday afternoon.
Gary returns home to U.S. Steel Yard on Monday, June 19 for the start of a three-game series vs. Sioux City.
