CLEBURNE, Texas — Seven runs through three innings and an eight-run top of the sixth guided the Gary SouthShore RailCats to a 15-8 win over the Cleburne Railroaders on Sunday night at The Depot at Cleburne Station. Randy Santiesteban finished a triple shy of the true cycle (walk, hit by pitch, single, double, triple, home run) and Colin Willis and Cole Fabio each finished with three hits in Gary’s sixth straight win. Sunday’s win improves the RailCats second half record to 14-2 and overall record to a season-high 11 games above .500.

Gary (38-27) scored first for a season-high 12th straight time on Willis’ two-run single in the first before going up 5-0 with three more runs in the second. Back-to-back sacrifice flies from Alex Crosby and D.K. Carey doubled the RailCats lead before Willis drove in his final run of the night with a two-out RBI single.

The ‘Cats went up by seven with two more runs in the third. Andy De Jesus joined the offensive explosion with an RBI double before Fabio brought home De Jesus with an RBI single

Cleburne (20-47) ended Gabe Perez’s no-hitter and shutout with five runs on four hits in the fifth. An Angel Rosa fielder’s choice followed by a De Jesus throwing error allowed Mike Gulino to score the Railroaders first run of the night before four straight two-out RBI doubles from Trevor Sealey, Chase Simpson, Levi Scott and Patrick Palmeiro cut the RailCats lead to 7-5.

Gary quickly answered with eight runs in the sixth to go up 15-5 after having the first nine of the inning reach base safely. With Fabio on first and Crosby on second, Carey dropped a sacrifice bunt down the third base line, however, Railroaders third baseman P. Palmeiro threw the ball past Scott at first, allowing both Fabio and Crosby to score. Santiesteban increased the Gary lead to 11-5 with a two-run home run down the left field line before back-to-back RBI doubles from Tillman Pugh and Andy Paz made it 13-5. De Jesus delivered the RailCats final two runs with a two-run single to center.

The Railroaders added three more runs in the eighth, cutting the RailCats lead to 15-8. Gumbs made it 15-6 with an RBI triple before Gulino hit a two-run home run to left-center for his first professional hit after signing his first pro contract on Saturday.

Quinn DiPasquale (1-0) recorded his first professional win in his second pro appearance after retiring all four batters he faced, one via a strikeout, over 1.1 scoreless innings of relief. Josh Hodges (2-4) was charged with the loss after allowing a career-high 15 runs (14 earned) on 12 hits, six walks and one strikeout in seven innings.

Gary continues their six-day, seven-game road trip in Texas against the Cleburne Railroaders on Monday at 7:06 p.m. RailCats’ LHP Alex Gunn makes his league-high-tying 15th start against Railroaders’ RHP Patrick Mincey (0-7, 5.89) in the final game of the year between the two teams.
