GARY, Ind. — The Gary SouthShore RailCats announced the re-signing of right-handed pitcher Ryan Fritze before Thursday’s game vs. Sioux Falls.
Fritze went 5-1 with a save and a 7.32 ERA in 18 relief appearances earlier in the year with the RailCats after signing his first professional contract on May 22nd. Fritze became the first RailCats pitcher to record two wins and a save in his first three professional baseball appearances back in late May. Fritze graduated from Valparaiso University in 2016 and led the Crusaders with seven saves during his senior season.
Gary concludes their three-game series vs. Sioux Falls on Thursday at 7:10 p.m. Right-hander Aryton Costa (2-1, 4.82) counters Canaries southpaw Joe Bircher (4-6, 4.79) in the series finale.
Thursday’s game is Heart Health Night, presented by Methodist Hospitals, and another Gerber and Thirsty Thursday.
