FARGO, N.D. –  Six innings of one-run ball from Jeff McKenzie and a three-run top of the sixth gave Gary a 3-2 come-from-behind win and the series sweep over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks on Sunday afternoon. The RailCats have now won four straight and cap off the regular season 10-3 against Fargo.

Fargo-Moorhead (41-36) jumped out in front for the second straight day on Devan Ahart’s sacrifice fly in the third. Charlie Valerio gave the RedHawks their first of the afternoon with a single to left before Yhoxian Medina moved Valerio up to third with a soft single into shallow center field. Ahart followed Medina with a sacrifice fly, giving Fargo-Moorhead their only lead on the day.

Gary (44-35) took the lead for good with three runs in the sixth. Reggie Wilson snapped Tyler Alexander’s streak of 11 consecutive batters retired with a one-out single before Colin Willis doubled off the right field wall, giving the RailCats a pair in scoring position. Kris Goodman put Gary on top with a two-run, hustle-double down the left field line, plating both Wilson and Willis. Goodman made it 3-1 after scoring all the way from second on a wild pitch.

The RedHawks added a two-out run in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI double from Brandon Tierney, however, Drasen Johnson (9) got Medina to groundout to Alex Crosby at first to earn the save and secure the win. Jake Matthys (5) and Jorge De Leon (1) each recorded holds with scoreless relief appearances.

McKenzie (2-3) yielded just four hits, walked one and struck out three. McKenzie is now 3-0 with an ERA under one in three career starts against Fargo-Moorhead.

Alexander (5-6) had his four-game winning streak snapped after allowing three runs (two earned) over eight innings in the loss. Alexander retired 11 in a row a one point, yielded five hits and a walk, and struck out 12 in the loss.
