RailCats re-sign Andy Roberts

GARY, Ind. — The Gary SouthShore RailCats announced the re-signing of left-handed pitcher Andy Roberts before Thursday’s series opener against the Winnipeg Goldeyes. Roberts went 4-1 with three saves and a 3.31 ERA in 23 games in 2016.

Roberts is currently one of three players from the 2015 team on the RailCats active roster after going 2-8 with three saves and a 4.78 ERA in his first season with Gary. Roberts logged a career-high 86.2 innings and appeared in 21 games (13 starts) in ’15.
Gary and Winnipeg begin their four-game series on Thursday at 7:10 p.m. Thursday’s series opener vs. the reigning champion Goldeyes is Strike Out Stroke Night, courtesy of Methodist Hospitals. RailCats right-hander Ayrton Costa (1-1, 6.54) opposes All-Star left-hander Kevin McGovern (8-2, 2.49) in the opening game of the series.

Thursday’s game also features a Food Truck Rally and is another Gerber and Thirsty Thursday. Northwest Indiana’s best food trucks will be setup on the concourse during the game and remember to visit your local Northwest Indiana Gerber Collision & Glass for complimentary reserved seat tickets.
