The Gary SouthShore RailCats (39-30) were unable to complete the three-game sweep in the Lone Star State as the Texas AirHogs (26-42) took Tuesday’s tilt by a score of 5-1. This is the second consecutive series where the RailCats dropped the series finale in attempt of sweeping their opponent.

The AirHogs scored the opening run for the first time the series in the bottom of the first. Alvaro Rondon led off with a single he advanced to second on a Casio Grider single and advanced to third on a stolen base, and scored on Charley Thurber’s RBI groundout.

The score stayed the same until the seventh when Texas started a rally by loading the bases with the first three batters in the inning. Ryne Willard singled, Trevor Sealey hit a ground-rule double, and Rondon walked. Grider doubled in both Willard and Sealey to make the score 5-0.

In the ninth inning, Gary’s offense finally pushed across a run. Randy Santiesteban led off the inning with a double before advancing to third and scoring on two wild pitches from Texas hurler Luis De La Cruz.
